I really didn't think the first one was that bad, nor this one.
Maybe he's just bad at poker.
Pretty harsh. I disagree about the first game and GLaDOS. I liked the first one and there are several things I miss that confuse me as to why they aren't in this one, such as its options (like tuning the amount of talking the characters do and of course THE GRAPHICS SETTINGS) and ability to skip dialog. The dialog in the first one was great, too. GLaDOS' lines in this one are good in my opinion, especially once you equip the full Aperture set. I wonder if this guy realizes that you unlock more dialog when you change the club setting.
I agree with his thoughts on Ash, though. It really is a weird choice, and while I'm personally getting sick of hearing people whine about it not being Bruce Campbell, I do have to wonder - why is he there if they couldn't get Bruce Campbell? Even another Telltale character in his place would've been more acceptable, especially given the properties they have. I find it ironic that there's an in-game conversation where they even ponder why there isn't a Walking Dead character at the table.

Considering he critiques the game for not being very good at simulating poker, I doubt that's the case since he seems to know what he's talking about

it's spot on.

the reality is that once you’ve heard all their lines the first time (about two hours of play, by my count) there’s little reason to keep going without it.
it's just a poker game with the gimmick of voice acting from a set of characters (two of them making no sense). it's fairly priced though
It isn't the greatest poker game on earth, but even at the base price it's like five bucks, and will probably go to like 2.50 on a sale. It's good for the price IMO.
the tf2 hats you get for it are worth more than the game itself
what poker night needs is really DLC editions or updates to win more prizes and even MP.
Ash's voice actor was in Birdemic.
Easy now, Telltale, don't blow your whole budget all at once!

it's $5 though, most people just buy it for the TF2 stuff, it's a good value.

that doesn't make any sense? because he didn't comlain about the difficulty and instead the game being too easy and not written as well as it should be?
what a dumb comment to make
Claptrap was actually funny in Poker Night 2, surprised the hell out of me.
the tf2 hats you get for it are worth more than the game itself
They are classified as untradable achievement items in TF2. They aren't worth anything as of right now.
I don't think people would go to the lengths of gift wrapping it to trade from a 5 dollar game.
I think this game was meant to come out last year: the Sam and Max unlocks all reference their 25th anniversary...

They have a line when you equip the entire set between Claptrap and Sam/Max.
"Hey Sam, isn't it your twenty-SIXTH anniversary? Internet sources say your game came out in 1987!"
"NEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEERD"
"Well, you see, since we skipped 2004, it's 25 years for us."
something like that it was funny in-game
I like the Meta humor about the player is really good.

Holy fuck, you're right. God damn.
I agree with the review's point of Ash. If they couldn't get Bruce Campbell, they should have got someone else that made more sense in context of the other characters.
There have been 16 episodes of Sam and Max, nice fact checking

they probably just didn't try. They didn't try to get Thomas F Wilson to play Biff in Back to the Future either (wait actually I think maybe they did but his agent turned it down? And he never heard about it then got angry)

Ash just isn't the same without Bruce though. Besides, I honestly don't think it would cost THAT much to get him to voice act his character. I mean, they already got a license for his likeness, and Bruce was in a lot of pretty bad B movies and even some more recent ones no ones heard of, I don't think he'd charge up the ass like a lot of other celebrities would.
Its not like Bruce wouldnt be up to it either, he and Raimi are planning an Army of Darkness 2, [sp]and he did return to play Ash in the post-credits of the Evil Dead remake[/sp]
He has also done video game voices before, including all the Evil Dead games and even some Spider-Man games. The Spider-Man ones could have been a favor to Sam Raimi except that Bruce did a voice for the recent Amazing Spider-Man game, which Sam wasn't really involved in.
Scheduling is also unlikely, as they're not shooting Army of Darkness 2 yet, and I don't think a few voiceover sessions would impact Burn Notice a whole lot, which I am pretty sure wasn't even shooting at the time PN2 was being developed.
Cost is also not likely a big issue. If they could get Christopher Lloyd and Michael J. Fox for the BTTF game, they could get Bruce Campbell.
This is all my speculation, of course, but if I were to say what I think the most likely scenario is, TT might have asked Bruce or his agent but he declined because he didn't think it was a good use of the character.
Overall, it's a shame.

They actually didnt get Michael J. Fox, it was a really good impersonator.
No, Michael had a cameo. Although he might have done that as a favor to Christopher Lloyd.

Fuck, I didn't realize that would be a spoiler for the new Evil Dead, why did I click that.
Would be cool if they allowed you to swap out different characters from previous games and give us the ability to play more than just poker.

this is literally the worst argument people use to dismiss reviews and critique. "he doesn't like it because he's bad at it."
you don't need to be the second coming of game-christ to be eligible to critique a game.

To be honest, the first few rounds I played (since I was playing it like a moron playing poker) were really frustrating, since not only was I sucking, but the game got in my face about it. If I hadn't wised up and figured out how to win quickly, I'd have hated it.
