im deciding whether or not to buy a new motherboard for a i5 quad core or just to stick with my socket 775 and get an intel core 2 quad. this is what im easing in for

just realized the title should be named socket 1155 ..sry
775 is a dead socket. Go with something where you can still upgrade to another CPU a year later or so.
Since you can already spend $300 at the max I say save $100 more and get yourself a 2500K/P67
