I'm leaning toward an EVGA GTX 470 (This one), because I have no experience using ATI cards, but I've heard ATI cards are slightly better in performance. I need a couple recommendations here, anyone have anything?
the 470 is good for the money, and the ATI counterpart I think would be the 6870. However, new generation cards are coming out and even if you don't get the new cards it will probably bring the prices down so wait like 2-3 weeks

My main question is this: Is there any difference between the GTX 470 and the Radeon HD 6870 besides ATI and Nvidia?
From this article it looks lik the 6870 performs a bit better in most games http://www.guru3d.com/article/radeon-hd-6850-6870-review/19
post the rest of your specs including power supply there's no point getting a 470 if you're on a pentium 4 with a PSU that can't even power the 470 in idle

ew ultra get the XFX 750W, that will be fine for 2 470s and you didn't specify the case, a 470 in an airflowless sealed box is just going to die

Why ew, is Ultra no good? It's got good reviews. [editline]30th November 2010[/editline] And I'm only getting one 470
At least for me, I've never heard of Ultra If you can order from Newegg this PSU is a really good deal http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817371026&cm_re=750w_antec-_-17-371-026-_-Product [editline]30th November 2010[/editline] or just get the xfx one that ninja said

470 is you best bet right now but I would wait 2-3 weeks.
Ultra is good. I have the 550W LSP.
owning one doesn't make them good there are much, much better brands
owning one doesn't make them good there are much, much better brands
For how much I paid for mine, I am far more satisfied than buying a $65 Corsair. It does what I need it to do and I have no problems with it. And it was on sale for like $25.
I guess I wouldn't really care about the PSU if I was getting a build on an extremely small budget but in OP's case, he has an i7 and a GTX 470, and to power that I'm sure many people (myself included) will prefer that he buy a reliable PSU from a reputable brand
The mobo and processor are a bundle, and I don't want to change those. I don't plan on using SLI, and if I do, I'll switch then, but at this point it's not a huge concern for me.
wait if you didn't buy anything yet then you should probably post your budget and buy off newegg instead of compusa
A 6870 has a tiny bit more power than a 470, but a 470 has cuda and physx. It comes down to personal choice.
A 6870 has a tiny bit more power than a 470, but a 470 has cuda and physx. It comes down to personal choice.
And it doesn't use Catalyst.
A 6870 has a tiny bit more power than a 470, but a 470 has cuda and physx. It comes down to personal choice.
GTX 470 it is then. And is Newegg better in terms of prices?
I'm not sure about Compusa but Newegg has no taxes, and free shipping on most items also it has massive sales
A 6870 has a tiny bit more power than a 470, but a 470 has cuda and physx. It comes down to personal choice.
PhysX is hardly a variable.
Basically comes down to which you think you'd appreciate more: Eyefinity or PhysX.
Basically comes down to which you think you'd appreciate more: Eyefinity or PhysX.
Not really. At that point you go for the best price:performance.
I'm not sure about Compusa but Newegg has no taxes, and free shipping on most items also it has massive sales
There are taxes if you live in the same state as the warehouse (aka California and I think 2 other states)
