I was wondering what I would need to improve on my specs to allow my computer to run more things at once on Garry's Mod Example: I spawn about 30 zombies before my games FPS starts to drop to the floor. What would I get to improve this so that i can hold more on screen before my FPS drops. Would I need a better processor or a better graphics card?
why don't you post your current specs?
how to find specs
http://www.piriform.com/speccy download that, post screenshot.
here ya go.
I'm going to go ahead and say it's your graphics card. The rest of your specs look fine. I need a bit more information now. 1. What is your power supply (wattage is most important, but +12V rail specifications are needed if possible) 2. Do you have a slim case or a full-size one? 3. Does your motherboard have a PCI-E slot?
here ya go. [img_thumb]http://i275.photobucket.com/albums/jj320/vegasx9/Specs.jpg[/img_thumb]
Buy a fucking graphics card.
The graphics card is the problem. That will barely run modern games. My laptop has somewhat similar specs to your computer, except the graphics card. I haven't found a game yet I can't run on it. Upgrade the graphics card. Really, anything would be better than an Intel chip for that. A Radeon HD 4000-series would be dirt-cheap but more than powerful enough.
Actually I did some research, I just need to know about your case. http://www.dell.com/us/en/dfb/desktops/desktop-optiplex-760/pd.aspx?refid=desktop-optiplex-760&cs=28&s=dfb&~tab=specstab which of those does it look like?
What would be the best graphics card for a 200$ budget? Buttsex: Mine would be the largest on the right, the Mini-tower.
Your power supply isn't exactly wonderful, $200 would be pretty hard on it. I'd say this is your outer limit. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814102859 [editline]3rd November 2010[/editline] Don't go ahead and buy it though, someone else might have something better.
Don't go ahead and buy it though, someone else might have something better.
I'll probably do some searching before I make up my mind about it, I have until Christmas. Thanks for your time.
What would be the best graphics card for a 200$ budget? Buttsex: Mine would be the largest on the right, the Mini-tower.
Depending on PSU: The 5750 might be the best fit for you. The 5770 would be about $130, and will do great justice. Unless this is a laptop.
If you can, you may be better off upgrading your PSU as well so you can have more upgrade options. And, unless your BIOS is locked, you should also try overclocking your CPU. The E7xx overclock very nicely. I've got my E7200 running stable at 3.53Ghz, and I could almost certainly hit 4Ghz if I had a better motherboard.

Iv been thinking about upgrading my PSU. With a 5750 would I be able to run crysis at around 40-50+ FPS?
we've already confirmed that it's a desktop in the post you quoted, in fact.
Its the minitower. If my memory serves me right, its just as worthless as a Lenovo M58. Low Profile video cards are fucking shit.
minitowers can still fit full-sized graphics cards, it's just desktop and slimline ones that can't fit a full-sized card also vegasx: a 5750 could probably do 50 fps in Crysis on medium, I wouldn't count on it maxed out though. anyway Crysis is one of the few games totally playable at 20 fps, which this card could easily do on high/ultra high

I kept lowering my settings until I hit 50 or so because it was difficult to play like that. Also, remember that he has a 1024x768 monitor. That's going to boost performance quite a bit, if your assumptions are based on more modern resolutions.
It seems you have XP on that machine. I'd install a 64 bit operating system to gain access to all your RAM.

I'd say a 5750 could definitely run it on high at such a low resolution.
One final question: Being only thirteen, i'm not to handy when it comes to messing around with computers. Should I just youtube it and do it myself, or have a specialist come and do it for me to avoid screwing it up?
Installing a new graphics card is really easy and if you mess it up you probably shouldn't be using computers anyway. You've proven yourself to be relatively easy to work with so I'm going to assume that you've competent enough to figure it out. Just look up some tutorials on Youtube, you'll get it pretty quickly. there is only one place it fits anyway.
youtube it and do it yourself

I wouldn't hire a pro, but if you have any tech-savvy friends, ask them to help.

Most people would have no problem demonstrating it to you.
does he really need a 5750? a 4670 will do the job fine http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814161315
