I'm not really sure this is the right place for this, but I have to try...other forums have failed me thus far. OK, so I have some gameplay videos I recorded using Fraps a while back. I'm trying to edit it in Sony Vegas 10, but am having trouble with it.
-First things first, Fraps saves the video as .avi (picture below for more detailed view)

-Next, the video and audio works perfect using any media player such as Windows Media Player.
-I can also edit the video in Windows Movie Maker with not problem, but this program sucks Hitlers testicles...
-I can import to Sony Vegas 10, video works, but no audio.
Some things I attempted include:
Google
Codecs
Virtual Dub
AviDemux
Windows Media Encoder
Movavi Converter
Blaze MP
Breaking the monitor (not really)
I found out that I can use Windows Movie Maker to convert the videos to a WMV that works in Sony, but the other programs I've used don't work.
Some things I have yet to try:
Adobe Premier
Your advice
Now I'm hoping that I can come across a kind, fellow FP'er who has experience in video editing and can help me out! I've pretty much exhausted my resources and I've been up till 3AM trying to figure this out...I need some sleep!
Thanks :)

I'm going to try Adobe Premier next >.>
If you installed Vegas after fraps try reinstalling fraps, it should help Vegas pick up the codec it needs. I had some issues with it in something else a while back and this solved it.
I've never had any trouble. I'll just check what codec I use...
LAME codec?
I thought there was a choice of codec on the fraps menu. I must be thinking of something else
I've just never had any trouble with fraps --> vegas

Never thought of that... Will try this now.
Thanks

Damn....it didn't work... :(
How about this:
Record in Fraps
Import video into Virtualdub, then use Virtualdub to compress the video(using Xvid or whatever)
Import that compressed video into Vegas, and only EDITING it in Vegas(don't compress again).

Thanks for the reply, but i've tried this hundreds of times with multiple types of codecs and configurations. I've even tried to convert the .avi files to .wmv or .mp4 and the audio still won't work.

It seems to work fine in Adobe Premiere...
LAME codec or not?
LAME codec or not?
I tried downloading it, but I just didn't understand how to install the codec. There was no installation, and the readme was talking gibberish to me...
Go to your video in Sony Vegas, do you see any audio stream?

No there is no audio stream, but the audio works when I play it in Windows Media Player. I can even open it up in Adobe Premiere no problem.
