So after I installed the latest Nvidia driver update, when I play ANY game without the native resolution, it will have black bars on the side. I've had this happen a while back, but I forgot how to fix it

Aspect ratio.
It should be in your driver's settings.
Nvidia control panel -> adjust desktop size and position -> use Nvidia scaling/displays built in scaling

Everytime I do that, it'll just go back to Use Nvidia Scaling
Aspect Ratio, Try using your monitors native scaling, or Nvidia's also make sure your running at the right res.
maybe you should pick a resolution that is the same aspect ratio instead of wanting it to stretch 4:3 to widescreen and make it look like shit, then complaining when the drivers dont want to make it look like shit.

Some older games don't allow me to (system shock 2 for example)
And I like how before I got the update the games didn't do this
