And frankly I'm pretty damn nervous, I doubt I'll be able to sleep tonight and I'm officially in the no eating for 6 hours point so the anesthetic works. Pain is inevitable but I'm more worried about being loopy from the anesthetic and not thinking straight. Does the anesthetic make you loopy mentally and physically? I'd say having no control over my thoughts is more scary than how painful it might be, but the possible pain is still scary in it self. :smith: So short question shorter; How bad is it?
From what I've heard, all of the drugs they give you to ease the pain put you out of the loop, so to speak. But once those drugs wear off, you're going to be in a world of pain. But anyways, good luck on your surgery.
Operation won't hurt to bad. The aftermath is fucking terrible.

Actually played some TF2 when I got home, and besides laying off the mic due to my numb mouth garbling anything I would've said I fared about the same that I usually do. Although one thing: When they put me under for the surgery, it didn't really knock me completely out. Ever been so tired that you don't give a damn about anything going on around you? During the surgery I was basically thinking "Should I tell them that I'm aware of what's happening? Eh, I'd have to move something to do that. To hell with it."
Had my wisdom teeth removed a few years ago. I don't get why everyone hated it. Anesthesia was fucking awesome and vicoden for the pain afterward worked great. Wasn't bad at all.
I'm soooo glad my wisdom teeth came in right. Like, so glad [editline]15th August 2011[/editline] But, the aftermath is the worst. Make painkillers your best friend, but not so much you get addicted
Ya I went to a sort of pre screening thing I don't know, they pretty much said to take the pain killers the moment you get home, but to eat something really sweet first.
You might not want to chew. That'll hurt like hell, even with painkillers. You might want to have a milkshake for food.
The worst part in my opinion was how I couldn't eat solid food for about a week or so. That was awful. I wasn't in that much pain afterwards really..or during..I mean there was pain but it wasn't that bad.
Or things through a straw really.
Yes they've already covered all that, I'm loaded up on coffee ice cream and such, they also told me about dry sock or what ever it's called.
I got mine removed recently. I went to the hospital, they gave me a shot, put me on the hospital bed and rolled me into the room. Then they gave me more drugs and I went to sleep in like 1 minute. When you wake up I didn't feel shit. I got cotton pads for bleeding and it wouldn't stop so I went to sleep in my car for a few hours. Good times.
just got mine pulled last week, though I had an IV sedation which basically meant I was asleep for the whole operation woke up with a mouth full of blood and gauze, but I didn't feel anything. first day was kinda disgusting though, being able to taste the dried blood on the very back of your mouth, having to change gauze periodically, etc. the bleeding for me stopped within five or so hours, though, so as long as you apply good pressure on your gums with the gauze, you'll be fine in that department been five days now, and my gums are a bit swollen, especially the lower ones, but the ibuprofen they gave me is working so far. gotta be wary of any potential infections, though. been slowly moving to more solid but very soft foods (from yogurt/ice cream to mashed potatoes and baked beans), which is nice. i never thought i'd say this but i'm getting tired of eating ice cream every day. so the aftermath, for me, has been going pretty smoothly and am hoping that these gums heal/stop being swollen by next week.
I know a little about the anesthetics. From what I have been through you just fall to sleep immediately, and once you wake up you might be a little loopy, but that will go away in a few minutes.

After I had mine pulled, I spent days in bed sleeping because despite the medication, the pain just sucked. The medication that have you on during the surgery is strong, and you won't feel a thing, at all. It put me, then with sleeping issues and overweight, into a very deep sleep in around ~10 seconds. But although it's strong and makes you tired as fuck and a little delusional, it's not mild altering, or at least it wasn't for me, so don't worry about that. If anything, you'll just be a little out of it. Overall, it's the aftereffects (pain) that sucks, the surgery itself is nothing. [editline]15th August 2011[/editline] I forgot to mention, my medication was administered through an IV as well, so I didn't wake up until some time afterward. Also I didn't eat for days. Apparently the best diet, is when you get sheering pain anytime you put something in your mouth. Instantly kills any appetite or hunger you had. :v:
Are you getting them extracted or are you actually going in for surgery? Because getting them extracted kinda sucks.

My mum had hers removed several months ago. Apparently it was very painless, the only bad parts were the injection (which apparently she didn't even notice) and the bleeding later. The bleeding didn't go on long, though, so you really have little to worry about. Try not to get too nervous, even though I know in your position you'll be shaking.

They gave me drugs through IV and I felt great the five minutes following the procedure, then after the drugs wore off I was in pain, my mouth was bleeding, and had to wait 2 hours to get a ride from the hospital to my room.
My uncle says his mouth was filled with blood when he got his wisdom teeth removed.
My bro had one of them removed, he got a fever afterwards
