Is it possible to install and run XP on a USB Flash device? It'd be very handy.
You'd need to format the drive as NTFS first, I don't know how you would go about running it off it though.

Set it to boot first in the BIOS, reboot computer?
You can but it will need a little modding
I think I tried it once.
You needed to modify some .sys file and then do magical shit and I just couldn't get shit to work.
Might be possible nowadays.

Yes, It is possible, The easiest way to do it is some modification to the install files to allow you to install to a USB Device, Which sounds daunting but not hard, Just google "Install windows on XP on USB" (Yes, I know the USB is the port, it's just a general term, good for searching). You'll find it.
bartpe is easiest way
It's possible, but it involves editing certain installation files on the disk, as well as including a custom USB driver.

There are better PE builders such as Reatogo, VistaPE, UBCD, etc
Isn't this sort of bad for long term use due to flash memory having limited erase/write cycles though?

It doesn't die as quickly as you think. Besides, I'm pretty sure he's not using it for long term purposes
Yeah as long as you have a cracked windows your fine, orther than that you'll need to reactivate after X (like 4) hardware changes. Ubuntu or another kiddie distro would be better
Sad that it's SO much easier to install Linux on a flash drive. :/
