PhenomX4 925 work well with HD5770 crossfire? I'm currently thinking of upgrading to a HD5770 from a GT 240, and eventually going into crossfire. I'm currently thinking these questions: Will my processor, the PhenomX4 925 @2.80 ghz bottle neck my system? Should I get a faster processor such as the 955 BE or 965 BE for example? When going into Crossfire, should I upgrade my power supply, which is a BigAnt 600w? My system specs: Antec 900 case 1440x900 AOC monitor Gigabyte 890GPA -UD3H motherboard AMD PhenomX4 925 @2.8 (stock speed) Corsair dominator ram, @ 2000mhz in Dual Channel Asus GT 240 1GB ddr3 600w big ant power supply
I'd say that you should get a new power supply. All about dem cooling and wattage, and shiet.

Your processor shouldn't bottleneck it, so there's no real reason to upgrade it as it's still a powerful processor. However your powersupply I would advise you get say, a Corsair 850w mainly if you're opting to crossfire two 5770's (there should also be sufficient power output spare should you wish to upgrade other parts in the future). Though I am not too familiar with ATi cards power requirements so I might be slightly out here.

Thank you for that
Do you reckon I should go up to 750w or 800w? Remembering I might go higher than a 5770.
Get a Corsair 650W, it will run it fine.
Get a Corsair 650W, it will run it fine.
Mkay, but I still want enough room for future upgrades as well.
You are better off getting one better card instead of two
You are better off getting one better card instead of two
Yeah, was considering that 5850 or something along those lines.
HD 5770 CrossFire is faster than single HD 5870, I think that's good seeing that a lot of people are using that setup. Plus, 650 watt should be enough if you don't go 4 GHz on Core i7 980X and more than two GPUs.
Get a Corsair 650W, it will run it fine.
I'd recommend this as well, or an XFX 650w bigant is a pretty shitty brand [editline]02:16PM[/editline] so shitty I can't even find any information on it [editline]02:20PM[/editline] and always go with a single card unless you already have one of the cards crossfire/sli should always be for upgrades
Also don't get the 5770, the GTX 460 scales up far better with crossfire and is a better card overall
I've got crossfire 5770s and a X2 555 and have no problems with bottlenecking. Also running 750W. [editline]02:20PM[/editline]
HD 5770 CrossFire is faster than single HD 5870,
Not all the time.
Also don't get the 5770, the GTX 460 scales up far better with crossfire and is a better card overall
x1
Also don't get the 5770, the GTX 460 scales up far better with crossfire and is a better card overall
I don't see the point in buying another Nvidia card seeing as when I want crossfire I'd have to buy another card that's ATi.
You have a pretty average resolution. One 5770 should be sufficient for now, even a 4850.
You have a pretty average resolution. One 5770 should be sufficient for now, even a 4850.
I actually have a whole load of plans for my computer seeing as my monitor and speakers are from the old computer.
I don't see the point in buying another Nvidia card seeing as when I want crossfire I'd have to buy another card that's ATi.
Get a GTX 460. Then SLI it with another GTX 460. They would be way better than 5770s CF.

acutally, you can run sli on many non-sli boards through use of a driver hack, what board is it you have?

umad? with the right overclock that's completely fine
umad? with the right overclock that's completely fine
Really?
Yeah
Yeah
With the right overclock a Celeron would be fine. It's just that "right overclock" isn't especially possible at the moment.
That's a pretty fucking big bottleneck.
No. Theres very minimal bottleneck in that.
I thought the 925 was the more low end of the Phenom processors or something like that.
