Hi, going to finally install my SSD today and after some googling i'm still not sure what to do, I want to completely wipe the HDD and install W7 on my SSD and use the HDD for games and some programs that i don't need to load faster.
I've got a windows 7 home premium 64bit disc to install on the SSD but i'm still not sure if registry keys from old HDD will be fucked up if i move back the programs i backed up to the HDD (Which will no longer be C:/)
I don't copy data much, so I have little experience in this area. I could however, dig up this useful informationhttp://www.tomshardware.com/forum/15261-63-windows From what I've read, it's a backup and restore process that will take a while.
The best option, which will give you fewer headaches in the future, is a fresh clean install. Format both drives, and install to the SSD. You might make a partition on your HDD before wiping it and moving all the programs and files you want to save to it, but It's best if you nuke your windows install and start fresh.
