I've been using this since Windows 10's release. It's as good (same shit) as Start8.
I'll buy this as I did Start8.
I just use ClassicShell on my W10 laptop. Works great and it's free.
Is there any clear advantage to use Start8 over ClassicShell?
The default start menu doesn't even have a fully working search, it only works 20% of the time for me.
I actually like the Win10 start menu though, pinning programs as tiles is great
I find live-tiles aesthetically ugly and so this is a great alternative for me

So then don't pin the live tiles to your start menu?

then remove them all from your start menu

It looks nicer and the search is able to find apps by name (Calculator) rather than by filename (calc.exe).

I do, but that's still terribly ugly
Damn I really miss the windows 7 look
This is an extremely late article. Start10 was already available when Windows 10 released.

It'd be nice if they would actually let you pin whatever you want though. I can't pin anything that doesn't appear in the 'all apps' deal to the start menu and like 90% of what I can pin doesn't even have icons and there's apparently no way to assign them icons either. Also can't pin things to the taskbar as well which is annoying.

Classic Shell Settings > (Show all settings) > Search Box > De-select "Search the system path"

Nice Idea I just made mine like this one :D
never have this idea before !
But the last workaround to do is to make stuff a the right like before with the new menu :P
windows 7 and below's start is outdated and shit tbh compared to the new ones
you can change the icon size anyways and organize them based on wherever you want, rather than organize them in only a straight line.

Might be more of a personal problem. I have two things (FFXIV and PSO2 Tweaker) pinned that don't pop up in All Apps at all and they both have icons.

So after I right click something in the "Most used" list and tell it not to be displayed there, how would one undo this action?
Best of both worlds, the amazing thing that metro was (basically a glorified docklet, much more better than any other UI when well organized) along with the side menu from the new start menu.

I think this is way faster/more functional than the Windows 7 start menu ever was (i just cleared out my recents otherwise they'd be in there)

I went with StartIsBack. I really liked it in comparison.

I want more live tiles
Customisable live tiles.
Set up a live tile as a window into a web-page so you can keep track of the top few forum posts or whatever on a website of your choice.
Set up a live tile that shows webcam footage from the ISS.
MORE LIVE MORE TILE

What exactly makes it outdated? The lack of tiles?

All those programms opened up at the same time? Chrome, GTA V, Photoshop and Bridge, Steam downloading, Skype? What kind of a supercomputer do you have?

Everyone knows the only valid reason to upgrade your computer is to dick wave about it.
I'd like the Windows 10 start menu if it wasn't just single-column when you take out the tiles. It reminds me of Windows 98.

...which is an option to use in classic shell :excited:
Bulging and glossy?
As compared to metro's bland, flat and overly simplified design styling.
I kinda do prefer aero and in a way miss it on my laptop, hopefully as time goes on someone will tinker around with 10's visual styles and we'll get a mix to suit peoples preferences.
Hate me all you want, but I really like the live tiles. I like being able to just look and see, "Oh that's the weather, I have so many emails, that's a neat little news article, oh I have that thing at x time...". I like the hard clean lines and solid colors. It just feels clean to me, no fancy gradients and transparencies.

At least it works better with third-party apps.
Metro looks great until you realize only official Microsoft apps and a small number of other ones actually make an icon to fit in. For example:

This is my taskbar, notice how only a few of the icons fit in with the last three. Meanwhile in Win7, things weren't just flat colors so things with gradients still fit in.
