Ok so I have a 120 GB IDE drive and I just got a 1TB SATA3 drive.
And there is a SATA DVD drive too.
I want to use them as seperate HDDs. 120 for Windows an 1TB for games, videos, pictures.
Now.
I see them all fine in the BIOS.
I set the SATA configuration to "Enhanced" and "Configure SATA as IDE"
The JMicron SATA/PATA controller is enabled and set to IDE too.
But windows won't see the 1TB HDD.
It shows in the device manager, however.
I start the thingie in Win7 where you are supposed to see you data volumes and well.. it just hangs.
It sits at "collecting virtual data volume information"(rough translation) and does nothing.
I need that to format the new drive.
Any experiences?
You can try to just reset bios to default settings. The default will almost always allow you to do what you're asking.
Read half of OP oops.

Can you check the SMART readings on the new drive?
Is it even partitioned?
It's obvious but yeah, just in case.
