My laptops wifi adapter is having a few problems with connecting to my router. I have reinstalled the drivers and reseting to factory settings. But the wifi still doesn't work unless i reset the laptop or reinstall the drivers.
So i've decided to replace the card. I'm planning to replace it with an Intel Centrino Advanced-N 6230. The current card has the same dimensions and has only 2 pins.
Would the wifi card work? is there anything else i need to look out for?
From what I've read just connect the antennae to the right and left pins and leave the center one if you don't plan on completely taking the thing apart and installing a third antenna. I think replacing the card is a little extreme though, what kind of troubleshooting steps have you tried? Have you made sure its not a problem with the router itself?
the router is brand new. i currently have 3 wireless devices connected to it (phone ipod, another laptop) and 2 wired to it (two pc)
I have tried everything. Reinstall drivers. Reformat into factory settings.
If you already have the card I'd just pop it in and see if it fixes the problems. If not then what specifically does the computer do when you try to connect? Can you see the access point? Any errors?
It either can't detect any networks at all. Or it can detect but won't connect or keeps asking me or the password.
