one of my core is MIA, in the task mannager it says i have 0,1,2,3 and 4, so im running just 5 of the 6 i have.
i also checked the msconfig boot option to see and it wont let me put i have 6.
Is there anything i can do at the bios or something? thanks

cpu for now
the fuck?
What MoBo do you have?
And check around bios.
I think 1 core might be faulty, so MoBo disabled that.

Check around the bios: Look at the Core Unlocker, it might have messed with something.
can you be more explicit, i know its hard but i dont want to do something even worse lol
Check around the bios.
Many AM3 mobos have Core Unlocker feature, I am guessing that yours might have been a bitch and changed the settings.
I have never had an AM3 mobo/CPU so I don't know about it. And I am not that smart about PC-s so I have no idea if it could have been the problem.
ok went to the bios, checked the cores....the third one was off for some reason, turned it on and haleluya!
problem solved, topic close, thank you all!
Good thing that it helped then.
i knew it couldnt be that easy, it seems like activating the third core gives me overheating problems
That core is faulty, that is why it is disabled.
You sure it is overheating problem? Check temperatures with HWMonitor.
And if it isn't temperature, try raising the core voltage a bit. It might make it more stable.
If they sold it to you as an X6 you really need to be able to use all 6 or go back to the shop.
Why would they sell a six-core with a disabled core? "Unlock it for even MORE performance!"
Return it.

Chips that are less then 6 cores and made by AMD usually just have faulty cores. But when it's labled as a 6 core and one is faulty it's fucking stupid but the motherboard just says "Oh the core's faulty it must be meant to be 5 core cpu" and doesn't think anything is wrong.
I misread the topic title as "one cock missing" and was wondering what it was doing in H&S and not GD

Also on topic I'd return it. It's broken plain and simple
