• XBOX ONE wireless controller for Windows vibration problems

I got an xbone controller with the dedicated Microsoft-made USB wireless dongle for Christmas to replace my ageing Xbox 360 pad, and I am having some problems getting it to vibrate as intended. The question has several answers online that I have tried; and the following solutions have not worked: The often-suggested manual driver update - My current drivers are later, and it will not allow me to downgrade to the suggested version. Updating the controller's firmware. Updating to the latest drivers (have them already). Using the Windows Store app "Xbox accessories" to enable vibration. Enabling rumble in games (duh). I have made the controller vibrate through the 'force vibration' function through the Xbox Accessories app, though it will only work some of the time (at seemingly random), and even then, it only activates the trigger-vibration motors, not the main vibration motors.
Might be an issue with the controller itself
Might be an issue with the controller itself
I actually solved it. Somehow. After giving up on it and just wanting to try it out in a few different games, I fired up Rainbow Six Siege and played a few rounds of PvE with it. About halfway through my second round, and in the middle of a burst of machinegun fire, the vibrator suddenly rose to life and started working like God intended; and it has done so for every other game since. I genuinely have no idea what the hell happened.
