Okay, so...
I used to have some Stereo Mix drivers I downloaded from what I remember to be a Korean site (found by googling it) on my previous computer that died.
I used it to record videos with Camstudio so they'd have sound, since Camstudio hates recording from speakers with Vista and Windows 7 no matter how it's ran. I always got an error and no sound/corrupted file.
Since I have a new computer now, I since lost the driver, but found it again and installed it.
But now it seems it's incompatible with Windows 7 and/or my sound card.
Is there some Stereo Mix drivers out there that are compatible with a basic Realtek sound card?
I don't remember what the sound card was in the laptop... IDA... I... IDT?
I think IDT. Not sure.
Google isn't yielding any good results.
Install the drivers from realtek.com
Right click the speaker in the tray > Recording devices
Right click one of the items > Show disabled devices and show disconnected devices
Right click stereo mix > Enable if it's not enabled
They don't have any.
Not to mention their site is REALLY confusing and I don't understand anything about sound cards and their drivers, so all that 2 channel and 8 channel crap makes no sense to me.
Open the device manager, under Sound, video and game controllers does it say Realtek High Definition Audio, or what?
Either your card supports Stereo Mix, or it doesn't... it's that simple.
Yes it does say that.
But I did what you told me and there is no Stereo Mix under disabled or disconnected.
And yeah yeah, does or it doesn't... But I really miss being able to record sound.
Realtek HD Audio supports stereo mix. Download the driver from the site and follow those steps.

Does it per any chance have a tab named "What U Hear"?
If so, that's the same deal as Stereo mix, just with a less fortunate name for it.
If that didn't help, check the manufacturer of your motherboards website for a updated driver for your sound card, or if it's a prebuild, then check the computer manufacturers site for a sound driver for your computer model.
I'm guessing you used windows update to find a sound driver for you, it doesn't always find the best driver suited.
Almost every time you're better off getting the drivers from the manufacturers site.
We've already established he has a Realtek HD Audio chipset. Going to the motherboard manufacturer for a driver is silly.

Ah, missed the part with your link.
Wahaha!
It works now, thank you so much.
Well I mean I haven't tested it but it's there now.
Okay after neglecting to restart my computer for almost 3 weeks, I finally did to see if Stereo Mix would work.
... Alas, it doesn't work the way I want it to.
The only way I can get it to pick any sound up is to unplug my headphones and have the sound come through my monitor speakers which are absolute shite.
I can record sound now, which makes me happy, but I hate taking my headphones out...
