I've got myself a Phenom x4 9550 (stock 2.2 ghz) that I've OC'd to 2.65 ghz. I'm not sure whether I should be trusting the core temps, or the CPU temps. The core temps are much, much lower than the CPU temp, especially under load. I've tested it with HWMonitor, and Speedfan. Shots below.

Three minutes worth of Prime95. As you can see, the disparity between the CPU temp and core temps is rather large. Which one to believe?
Specs:
CPU: AMD Phenom x4 9550 cooled with an Arctic Freexer Pro Rev. 2
GPU: BFG GTS 250 1 gig
Mobo: ASRock A770DE+ with the SB710 Chipset
RAM: 6 gigs of 1066 Mhz DDR2
Have you looked at BIOS temps?
On startup the BIOS hardware monitor reports 35 degrees celcius.
