I've returned with my computer-illiterate problems, fellow Facepunchers. So, I've come across a problem on my computer. A few days ago I downloaded a porno and got something completely unexpected. The porno didn't work, and my computer contracted a malware/trojan/virus that disguised itself as multiple csrss instances. I didn't know at the time, and just deleted the porn angrily. After a few days I started getting this window popping up on my screen after each startup, telling me that something's trying to access secure/encrypted/whatever files on my computer. I clicked no every time and didn't start getting problems until today, when I decided to do something about it. In short: I followed the instructions presented here. I went through them successfully, but only a few of the instances were removed. Now, a few are left and I'm getting this "genuine microsoft" crap popping up on startup. My background is completely black (a familiar veil over my always pretty backgrounds, which are well-known during my computer's time of getting internet AIDS.) Unfortunately, the veil's back, and I don't know how to get rid of it. No, I have no recent system restore points save for the one I made earlier. Before deleting my user profile, that is. So now, I'm stuck with a few less instances, a covered up background, and this "genuine microsoft" shit telling me that I "may be a victim of software counterfeiting." Please, FP, prevent me from destroying my computer for good.
YES my Windows is genuine and has been for the last 6 years or so when I first got my computer.
You can get a WGA remover to fix the background issue. Is your Windows actually genuine?
Yes, it most definitely is. I've only gotten rid of the WGA thing, but still find myself with those damned extra csrss.exe instances. I don't want them smashing the floodgates.
