Basicly, i'm getting a new processor for my PC, and if i connect the one i bought and it doesn't fit, the guarantee goes off and i'll lose money. So, the processor i have in the package there is a..um... Intel Core 2 Quad Q8200 2.33GHz * Core: Yorkdale, 45nm * Clock frequency: 2.33GHz * FSB: 1333MHz * TDP: 95W * Socket: Socket 775 * L2: 4Mt * Fan coolant: Yes And what i have right now as my specs is: ATI Radeon HD 3450 (256 MB) AMD Athlon Dual Core 4450e 2GB RAM And i suppose the sound system is irrelevant in this case. Oh yes, one final thing: My motherboard's name is: 64-0100-000001-00101111-112008-ATHLON64$7B4A1C31_RS740 B2 112008 I know, kinda hard to tell. Anyways, what i need to know is what kind of processor socket do i have so i can be sure the processor is compatible with my ststem before it's inserted. If so, can you suggest another processor as pwoerufl as the one i have on my desk right now?
You need 775, an intel motherboard. You have a AMD motherboard so it wont fit.
Okay? [editline]03:00PM[/editline]
You need 775, an intel motherboard. Can my motherboard connect with this one?

Also, could you check inside of your case for the name of your motherboard. It would make this alot easier.
Also, could you check inside of your case for the name of your motherboard. It would make this alot easier.
The name suggests it's some OEM part. Could be wrong though.
Allright, i found a new processor from the store. AMD Phenom II X4 940 Black Edition Seems like it is AM2 socket too, so it should fit. It's also slightly more powerful then the Intel if i read the info correctly. The Intel was 140+ while the AMD Phenom II X4 is 134.90 Whaddya think? ps. Oh yeah, i know this is going off-topic. But starting a new thread is jsut clogging the forums.
Go for it.
Do check that your Mobo supports it. Not all do.
Do check that your Mobo supports it. Not all do.
Agreed, and if you have a DELL you might not be able to use that proc. (can't update bios on those)
Actually, the socket is AM2+. Is there any difference between AM2 and AM2+ ?
Yeh with AM2 you lose 20% power with AM3 chips and AM2+ loses 5%. Don't know other diffs.
