Hello, I'm off to university this week and all of a sudden my 17" tiddly biddly screen has broken. Perfect excuse to get a new one!
So, I was browsing around and not knowing anything about screens I looked for specs I thought counted. I came across these monitors in particular:

http://www.ebuyer.com/271356-asus-ve208n-lcd-led-20-dvi-d-monitor-ve208n
Both are in my price range and both look good, but I've never taken notice of screen specs before so I might be about to get ripped off
Can anyone tell me which of the above is better, and for what reason?
Also the Fujitsu has dynamic contrast..sounds interesting but what does that mean performance wise?
I'm going to be using the screen for gaming, which might change your decision
I'm leaning towards the Asus
Or, if I've chosen two useless monitors please point me in the direction of one which you would recommend for me (looking for widescreen 20" under £120)
Thanks!
Bump
Sorry it's kind of urgent, I need to order it today or it won't arrive in time for me leaving

Get that one, it's DVI/HDMI so make sure your computer supports it and you have a cable.
^ Definitely that one

Wow that's pretty amazing, and for the same price too. Slightly worse contrast but...hardly noticeable, I assume
Thank you!
p.s The DVI thing always confuses me. I have an 8800GTS. If it has a DVI connection, that should mean it's DVI-I and can therefore handle DVI-D cable/connector to the monitor. Is that correct?
You won't notice the contrast at all.
And yes it can be confusing, all three DVI's (DVI-I, DVI-D and DVI-A) are compatible with each other, DVI-D is straight digital, just a basic digital DVI connection, DVI-A are used to carry a DVI signal to an analog display (basically a digital to analog adapter cable) and DVI-D can do both and in the case of your 8800GTS, digital, which is better than analog.
Also, is the 8800GTS you have 320mb? If it is I can send you my old 8800GTS 320mb for free before you go to university for 8800GTS SLI helping you play those games on your fancy high resolution monitor a little better.
Make sure your motherboard and power supply support it though otherwise there'd be no point.
Wow, thanks very much for the offer. Yes, it is 320mb. As much as I appreciate the offer, unfortunately my case is micro-ATX and thus I won't be able to fit a second card in. My motherboard and power supply could technically support it, though on second thought I'd probably need a new power supply on top of that
Anyway, thanks again for the generous offer and the help
No worries, have fun in uni.
David Tennant, what a guy.

Indecision has stuck me again. Just as I was at the checkout, my friend posted this:

Even less contrast but the advantage here is the HDMI connection that the screen above lacks
That means it's a bit more future proof...so what do you think of this one?
Also David Tennant, you said the Dell one above has HDMI, although it doesn't say on the specs is that an error on the specs?
Thanks
I was wrong sorry, the Dell only has DVI.
But it's the exact same picture as HDMI, the only difference is HDMI carries audio data too which is essential for most console/TV's but for a monitor is 100% useless (unless it has built in, 2w speakers which will blow your face off at how bad they are), if you ever needed to use HDMI on the monitor (connecting up a console/web TV service) you can just get a £2 HDMI to DVI converter: http://www.ebuyer.com/164639-xenta-gold-plated-hdmi-female-to-dvi-d-male-adapter-hdmif-dvim
But for your needs you won't need HDMI anyway, get the dell!
Ah I see...but then it does have a better response time...does it make that much of a difference in games and such?
Nope, stop asking questions, get the dell.
Ok ok...curse my indecision- I'll have to pay for the speedy delivery but that's the cost of indecision. What makes the Dell so much better than the LG? Ignoring the connections since as you said HDMI is the same quality as DVI, and the screens don't even have speakers anyway
Sure the dell has a tiny bit larger screen and an estimated better contrast ratio, but it's got a longer response time too...and LG are quite good when it comes to screens
I'm still going with your advice I'd just like to know the reasons, that's all
Thanks
It's a dell monitor, dell monitors are the shit.

Indeed they are.
I took your advice and bought it
Should arrive tomorrow!

Just kidding.
Oh man it's so WIDE
It's HUGE!
The monitor's pretty huge, too!
No but really, this is very impressive. I have so much space on my desktop :v:
