This. You are not practicing mid if you are stripping out the most important variables. The entire reason most heroes are sent mid is to get a quick level X (usually 6 for ult) then get some ganks. Play safe lane if you just want farming simulator 2014.

Not at all. Some play mid to farm like Alch and some play Dual mid. Solo mid is not set on stone and it has been debunked many times.

Alch is not mid for farm, if your solely looking to farm alch he is still sent to safe lane. He is a viable mid because he can shove the enemy mid AWAY from farm with acid spray to keep them away from xp and gold. And look at the kind of heroes that go duo mid. Duo mid is a thing to keep the mid from getting ganked, and to, once again, keep the enemy mid away from farm and xp. Both points you made are counter picks for heroes that do exactly as I stated. The midlane in essence is what it is because it gives an easy avenue to the side lanes for ganks. Yes, it gives more gold than solo offlane, and yes it gives more xp than duo safe. But the number of heroes that are shoved mid solely because they benefit from both xp and gold, and not because they can rotate quickly and safely, is relatively low (but not non existant, shadowfiend is a good example)
