as cool as occulus rift is, I couldn't see myself using this for more than ten minutes without getting a headache.
The omni treadmill makes it actually worth getting one of these. At the the moment it seems to be a good holodeck substitute. Get some of those old pedal peripherals and play some flight sims.
Holy crap that looks amazing
It'll look even better when games are actually designed with these peripherals in mind and not just slapped in.
What if you trip on the treadmill :v:
Then you fall on the guardrail made specifically to catch you.
I wish we saw competent players with the rift and all that, these aren't people who play tf2 with a rift these are rift players with tf2. :/
how do you jump

That's just because this is TF2; the game in no way designed for an optimal VR experience. I think that the best VR games will be those that take it slow, matching real human movement and such. It might even revive the whole adventure genre if done well.

I want to see some choose-your-own adventure related things, or even point and click adventures. It looks like it could be done extremely well with something like this. What if they decided to make an online version of The Walking Dead or something and you can play with other people using VR setups like this.

dunno why the guy in the OP video doesn't do it but it looks like you'll be able to jump by jumping

Maybe because strafing is akward in general?
To be honest, I kinda imagine a video game where you can just literally plug yourself into the game. Sounds crazy but literally being in the game would make things a crapton more awesome.
Also, could it be possible to make procedural voice acting that dosent sound like a robot?
That omni treadmill is pretty dandy but it looks really constricting. What about crouching, jumping in directions, etc? Also, is it considered cheating if you're fit enough to be able to sprint more than the other players? :v:
the omni requires the user to wear special shoes.
i wonder how this works because shoe sizes

How does one double jump as a Scout though?

I'd say it's a good thing that you can't sprint as fast as other people. Maybe it'll make the average gamer a bit more fitter than just sitting on a chair for hours on end.
How about crouch/prone in games?
Oh god, I can imagine ArmA 3 and this.

wouldn't it be terrible if video games encouraged you to be physically fit
If only the brace could move down somehow, when they add positional tracking to the rift this will really limit your movement.
I bet the scout would work best with that Omni treadmill. If you're running full speed but playing as the slow heavy that'd feel pretty wierd. Like trying to run in a dream.
Wait, wouldn't the Oculus Rift's wire get all tangled if you kept rotating your body like that? That sounds like a good way to damage the Rift or your computer.
