Whats up.
Selling my 360, which is an original launch model, the only thing wrong with it is that the disc tray keeps getting jammed.
It won't open and I have to put it on its side and push it in some weird way to make it open.
Never used to do it, so since I want to sell it I'll have to fix it, anybody know the best way of making it not happen anymore?
Kick the hell out of it. Works for me.
oil the cogs
20$ and 1 penny
Happens to me as well. I just jam my finger nail under the disk-tray, try to lift it up a little, and then it usually opens.
I'll try to figure out how to prevent it to happen anymore though.
Well, the ultimate solution would be to replace the disc drive, but I doubt it'd be worth it. Since this is a physical problem, and trays being stuck can be caused by many things, I doubt we can help you.
Put it in a bucket of soapy water
Loosen up the parts
Then so the water doesn't break the xbox quickly get it to a microwave and cook it for 60 minutes.
Well if the tray can open eventually after messing with it for a while, I'm sure it can be fixed and maybe something is blocking it.
Saw a video on YouTube about cleaning a rubber band in the XBox that I'm going to try but the more solutions the better
take it apart and find out whats blocking it, you will need a torx t8

I took mine apprt to clean it, its not to hard, watch a tutorial or 2 on youtube first

he shouldn't need a t8 to get to the disc drive, just a t10 to get the second half of the outer shell off.
but yeah OP, try taking the faceplate off at least and try opening it. if it still gets stuck it's probably something internal.

I ended up using both
Punch the Xbox until it surrenders.
Mine does this too. I just push the tray back then use my nails and wiggle it around until it opens.
I've had this happen before. The best thing to do is get a new xbox360. I got mine fixed for 95 dollars but it kept being a douchebag when it came to keeping the cd tray closed. They said that inside of the xbox there is a magnet that pulls the tray in and out or some shit like that, but it is useless. I used the technique of prying it open for a while but eventually that didn't work either.
All i do is punch the top and it works fine.
Get the disc tray out, rub it on your jacket, and put it back in.
Rocking it back and forth while pressing the open button until it opens usually fixes it for a month or so.
