I remember someone saying that 1920x1080 = 1080p = full HD. Is this true?
Yes
WOW RLY?! That means my screen is fucking High Definition. Kewl, thanks.
Well, there really isn't a limit to High-Definition (practicality aside) but current standards consider 1920x1080 to be 'HD'.
WOW RLY?! That means my screen is fucking High Definition. Kewl, thanks.
PC Monitors are generally pretty high resolution in comparison to televisions considering they are running in a progressive scan signal rather than an interlaced signal. I mean there are monitors that well exceed the standard "1080p" 1920x1080 resolution.

You know, 24" CRT monitors from 10 years ago where full HD too.
Yes. HD. [editline]07:03AM[/editline] Fucking breaking my automerge.

No AA, LowQ shadows and simple reflections, other high. I want a new one, but i'm scared installing it will fuck this computer up for good. My processor has made it kind of twitchy already, as i think i did the installation of that one wrong too. I just sticked it there and removed a .dll that made the computer crash every time it was started.

Your best bet is to just run it at a lower resolution. I have a 47 inch TV as my monitor and although the native resolution is 1920x1080. I still run some games at 1024x768 due to performance issues. It doesn't look too bad but sometimes you just have to do that.

It's a 16:10 resolution, but oh well. Makes the games playable....somewhat. Still would need a new graphics card, but FUCK. i know hehehehehe isn't butfuck funny. Get back in your cell dawg.

So would 1680x1050 be HD?
So would 1680x1050 be HD?
Below 1080 above 720..
So would 1680x1050 be HD?
HD usually refers to resolutions on TVs
HD usually refers to resolutions on TVs
that works both ways you can have HD but it's not HD unless you're using a DVI/HDMI cable and watching a HD video (either on a monitor, or HD receivers for tv networks)
Woot I got full HD baby :smug:
Woot I got full HD baby :smug:
same 24" screens ftw they're so damn massive
Meh, all this "Full HD" and "HD ready" stuff is crap, "High Definition" simply does not exist, it's something we define. For me High Definition would be a lot higher than 1920x1080. It's just something created to make it easier for the average consumer who probably wouldn't remember 1920x1080 or 1280x720.
I fucking hate it when people say their monitors are 720p or 1080p when they refer to 1280x720 and 1920x1080 resolutions. Someone could make a monitor with a resolution of 100x1080 and call it 1080p. The terms 1080p/1080i/720p are used for describing video standards, not resolutions. 720p for example only means "720 lines, progressive scan".
I have a HD screen! :neckbeard:
Getting a 24 inch tomorrow. Missed out on a brand new 26 inch one for £190 a few days ago. :smith:
My 24 1/2 1920 screen is awesome, even better it was only 136cad half price sale for the win:clint:
Why does it matter if you can't even tell the difference?
I recently purchased one. Been watching blu-ray movies lots since.
I have 21'5 Full HD and 3x 720p displays (dth2g)
Why does it matter if you can't even tell the difference?
I do
I do
That's rendering techniques, not resolution.
That's rendering techniques, not resolution.
I know. But you're not going to have 1080p if you have.. say a 1680x1050 monitor.
