Hi, so ive been having a couple... Ok lots of problems with this laptop I have. Where could I start... I guess with the laptop itself. About a month ago, it used to give me internet explorer errors as if I opened it, which I never did. It used to give me other messages saying that UCD.exe or something like that had stopped working among other .exe's who also did. Internet Explorer now doesn't works at all for some reason, but has at least stopped reporting. That must have been a virus... The next problems are alot worse. For some reason, I can't open steam or another mmo game I have because it kills my explorer and icons leaving me with just the wallpaper and a small window bar on the bottom left of my screen in windows 2000 style. I have to restart it because it just doesn't does anything from there. Another problem is that google chrome doesn't works. It just does nothing, like ze goggles... Tried installing it hundreds of times and it never works. Doesn't loads any pages at all. The last problem is with firefox. Don't know whats wrong with it now, it just stays in a blank page. It does the same thing as chrome. It hardly loads pages. It just stays in a blank separator no matter how many times I restart it and how many times I try to reload it. It can't be my connection because its the only computer doing stuff like this... Right now, this page might go to hell aswell... Im on a Vista btw so, that might count a bit for the problems since basically every machine with Vista that I have seen has been shit...
Backup your data and re-install the operating system. Shit like this is never worth troubleshooting, it'll just leave you stressed out and frustrated.
Sweet! I thought I wasn't able to make this thread. Sneaky firefox... [QUOTE=liquid_phase;23352254]Backup your data and re-install the operating system. I hate Vista pretty much to the point of prefering XP...
I would totally recommend windows 7 over vista and I'm sure 99% of the people here at fp would do too. If you're feeling a little bit more adventurous you could image your drive with acronis or something similar when you've rebuilt it, that way if you ever have issues again you can very quickly get your os back to a clean state and carry on.
So lets see... W7 32 bit I guess. How the hell am I gonna explain to my dad that his laptop went down the shitter now... Thanks for the help.
