Motherboard won't power up with 8-pin CPU connector...

Doing a brand new PC build, my second ever.
Did the paperclip test, the case fans were still connected and spun and I heard it.
Tried starting the mobo on an anti-static bag with CPU and fans attached, same exact thing.
Took the 8-pin CPU connector out, no CPU to get power, still powers up the fans.
Took the CPU out, 8-pin in, no power.
Put the 8-pin in, no CPU, fans spin for 5-10 seconds then reboots because of lack of processor.
Fuck my life, I have a feeling this motherboard is dead.
Try the 4-pin connector. Are you sure you have the CPU 8 pin and not a GPU 8 pin?

They're keyed differently.

It can't even fit. Unless you jam it in there, then you need a new motherboard.
It was a CPU 8-pin I assume, it was the only 8-pin and it fit perfectly, I didn't jam it in there. My GPU "8-pins" are actually 6+2-pins. Anyways I RMA'd the motherboard because after countless tries I couldn't get anything out of it and someone suggested it. It was a brand new build, the motherboard appeared to have problems with the CPU socket for some reason. Sucks because it's the first problem I've had with new hardware, needless to say kind of wish I went with MSi over EVGA for the motherboard now.
