• Problems with my wired connection

The other night, I moved my modem, wireless router, etc. to my upstairs desktop. I got everything up and running, and all the machines in the house work fine with a wireless connection. The problem I'm having is with my desktop. Having a wired connection just slows it down. It's not just a bit slower, it's very noticeable. All my programs can connect to the internet and work fine. I can connect to some websites (takes a very long time), and the majority of sites just flat out don't load. It just hangs on the "Connecting to (www)..." But when I disconnect the ethernet cable from the desktop and turn on my wireless adapter, everything's fine. Could it be a problem with the cable, or just some options I have set that are preventing me from having a high-speed wired internet connection?
Could be a problem with the cable, what does it say the connection speed is?
Seems odd, you moved everything and your cable just became dial-up?
