This is extremely frustrating me. I was able to play WoW or any game perfectly before but now I can't even get past log-in screen. When I start WoW for example, I am stuck at a black screen, with only the gauntlet and sound. If I wait longer, log-in screen is all glitched up, like this for example (Background; behind the EULA): It freezes and is unnavigable, I have to force quit. It is supposed to look like this (Without EULA) :

I tried everything, so far I have:
Attempted to run WoW in OpenGL mode
Attempted to run WoW in Windows mode
Deleted my WTF, Cache and Interface folders
Scanned my computer for viruses
Updated my Video Cards
I also tried other Steam games (Gmod for example), same issue and and symptoms! Extremely glitchy, unable to get past the main menu, game freezes as well as PC. My PC temperature is not the issue either. GMOD freezes here, notice the weird colors on the text on the main menu This never happened before. Any help on resolving this graphic card issue? Your graphics card may be getting too hot.
Your graphics card may be getting too hot.
Would keeping my PC off for a while temporarily fix it? [editline]03:08PM[/editline] I'd also like to state when I open the NVIDIA Image adjuster (It shows the NVIDIA logo in 3D rotating, so you can adjust some settings and see the effect) after a few seconds the same symptoms appear, and as you can see, a grey distortion seems to appear while the symptoms appear.
Would keeping my PC off for a while temporarily fix it?
no, you need to get a new one. What is your graphics card ? like i have a Radeon 4350 1024mb , but before, i had a Radeon 1700 256mb and with that, i had the same problem your describing, except i could get through main menu, but i couldnt play any games. They cost around 100$ for a good one. If its old, you need to get a new one. If its new-er, try looking inside your computer (unscrew the side, open it, etc) and try cleaning it with a paper towel (no water :P )
NVIDIA GeForce4 Ti 4600 (Old) I could of sworn I had a gig of Video RAM. I had the BSOD three times today with: nv4_disp.dll (My NVIDIA Driver). I think the first BSOD occurred before I had these graphical problems. (I am not sure since if it did, it was when the log-in screen was fine, then the BSOD came up, before I could tell) Could this be causing it?
It seems to me that it's artifacting and ready to die any moment. Try refitting it. I know, that's why I could of sworn I had 1024 MB before.
I know, that's why I could of sworn I had 1024 MB before.
What made you think you had 1024mb of Vram?
What made you think you had 1024mb of Vram?

i don't understand your logic
Never mind, I thought I did. Anyways, so its graphic card failure? It just happened this morning, when I turned on my PC.
Yes it's probably a failure, try reseating it, similar things happened to me once and that fixed it
Yes it's probably a failure, try reseating it, similar things happened to me once and that fixed it
I reseted it many times. I am going to leave it off and see how that works. Thanks
No, he said reseat. That means you take the graphics card out and put it in again. Also try to get the all the dust out of the fan.
No, he said reseat. That means you take the graphics card out and put it in again. Also try to get the all the dust out of the fan.
Oh... I didn't know. Thanks for the clarification. I am going to do that tonight. It seems likely it'd work.
It could also be dying, in which case you'll have to get a new one.
yeah I had this problem before, serious artifacting issues turns out my card had heat damage lolololololo try reseating it, it might help but probably won't, in which case a new card is in order
check your fan while your computer is in operation. most Ti 4600 had sleeve bearing fans that fail quite rapidly. i just had a Ti 4600 fan go out a couple days back. the same kind of artifacting occurred until i replaced the fan. those cards got quite hot and can damage themselves readily if the fan isn't operating correctly. besides, maybe its time to upgrade, i just got a new AGP radeon HD 4650 for $100
OK after leaving my PC off for a few hours, the issue finally stopped. But now WoW is freezing every second for 10 seconds
OK after leaving my PC off for a few hours, the issue finally stopped. But now WoW is freezing every second for 10 seconds
It's overheating, replace the fan or buy a new graphics card.
Computer is pretty old anyways. Buying an Acer tomorrow. Thanks for the help anyways
Just buy a new GPU, no reason to throw away a perfectly fine computer. If you are going to buy a new pc, ask FP to make a build for you, you'll get more bang for your buck if you buy the parts yourself. [editline]09:48PM[/editline] If you don't want to build the pc yourself you can search for a website that can build it for you.

But I have very little HDD space left and my DVD laser broke a long time ago, it has also gone through a few upgrades. I don't think I have "build-a-computer" services here, unfortunately. Nor would a company bother shipping here (Bahrain). We have P.O Box address. I am going to look around for a computer alone, without a mouse or keyboard or monitor, since my monitor is good enough.
