Hello!
Whenever I check my connection speed to most servers in the US, and around the world, I generally get a download speed of 1.5mbps and an upload of like 0.4mbps. Yes, I know I have a pretty poor Internet connection, but I don't DL or UL that much so it works for what I use it for, which is games. My ping is usually ~30-40ms or so, which isn't too bad.
However, whenever I'm actually downloading something, it sticks between 100-200kbps. I'm pretty sure 1.5mbps is the speed my family is paying for (I'll have to check to be certain, but I'm pretty positive.) Would this be a problem with my firewall or something, or my wireless connection/router?
It's been like this for as long as I can remember, just never really cared enough to post about it, but I thought I'd ask here and see what I can get.

You realize the places you download FROM also have an effect on what the speed is?
Like I said, I've downloaded from all over, and I don't think I've ever seen my download speed anywhere near 1Mb, except on SpeedTest where I generally get 1.5Mbps all over the US, and in other countries too.

There's a difference between MBps and Mbps. One is megabits, other is megabytes.
Internet speed is advertised as megabit per second.
In real life, internet speed is measured in megabyte / kilobyte.
One megabit is eight times larger than a megabyte.
1.5 megabit = what is advertised.
1500 kbit / 8 = ~187 kbyte.
You are getting what you paid for.
