I wanna make a new build for FC3, my current rig coughs and splutters when I play it, and its fun enough to me warrant making a PC around it. I will be playing at 1920x1080, preferably with maxed out AA and a consistent 60FPS. I also want to play PS2 maxed, but I think FC3 has higher requirements.
Current build idea:
Gigabyte GTX 670 (good enough? Too good? Can I save a bit of dosh downgrading to a diff card?)
xfx 650W PSU
ASRock Z77 extreme4
Corsair 2x4GB 1600mhz
Intel i5 3570k
You already have the best CPU on the market and near top of the line GPU. The only thing you could really do is get a second GTX670 for SLI or get a GTX690 or HD7990.
Any solution is going to be ridiculously expensive really.

Probably worth waiting till some crazy sale/price drops then. Oh well :S
That was your build idea right? And not your current build? The build you mentioned should play everything maxed out right now. Might be a good idea to look into amd gpus as they are better deals.
"Current build idea"
So since that's his build idea yeah it looks good. Change to a 7950 if you want, since more bang for your buck. Do you need a 650w PSU though? I know it could always "just to be safe" or something like that but I run your exact build idea but with a 7950 and different manufacturers and a corsair 600w PSU and it's fine.
Can I have your budget and what sites you will buy from/where you live?

Bad reading.

Yes op that would be a good build.
People (OP) should really put more information into these threads, it speeds the help process up a lot. Even putting a certain money symbol with your budget can help people help you. I have no idea where your from, or your budget so I'm going to go assume American and add up all those components and assume that's your budget until you say.
OP wants a new build basically, the build there is fine, changing the GPU to a 7950, maybe moving the 650w back to a 600w if he wants and that's it really but the build listed is fine and he can go with that if he wants.
So about $900 budget? That's about what the components add up to, give or take some.
To be honest you can go with those components or as I have said before go with a 7950 instead of an 670, perhaps go back a bit on the amount of watts to 600 and get something like an SSD. Samsung, Crucial and Plextor are some of the good ones to pick from.
upgrade to a 7970
Prices are in CAD, and this is a planned build, not an actual rig I own.
But yes, how would such a rig fair at running FC3?
It should run FC3 and other games like it finely, all the components there listed on the first post are pretty much the best you can really get for a gaming system at the moment, unless you're adding like 2 690's or something like that which rises the price by quite a lot. Otherwise it's a solid system with high end components.
As earlier stated you can change a few things around if you so wish, like maybe changing the ASROCK to a GIGABYTE brand purely for reputation of being amazing and good support when required (not exactly needed, up to you), changing the 650w to a 600w if you want, it's just that a 600w should run it fine (have the same build, xfx is a good brand too, don't want to skimp out on a good PSU or you will end up with it blowing up) and if you don't need a 650w for anything else it's a bit unneeded, changing the 670 to a 7950 (cheaper, can match performance), CPU is fine, I assume the RAM is Corsair Vengeance 2x4 so that's good since 8gb is all you really need for games.
Canadian? http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814125414. *Minimum of a 500 Watt power supply.* *Free Crysis 3 & BioShock game coupon w/ purchase, limited offer*
If you want an 7950, there's a link. Other than the above suggestions, the system is fine and you can go with that if you so wish, these are merely suggestions that you may follow. But to be honest making a new PC with a high budget merely to play one game is a bit silly, you should make a system to play the latest games and not just one you will play for a while then move on to another different game. I guess it could be a way of saying that you want to play the latest games because FC3 is somewhat demanding. Either build is fine since they should be able to play modern games (like FC3) at a good FPS on a high resolution easily, they only really have some slight alterations between them anyway.
I am gonna be using the 650w because a local shop has that particular model half price, going to a 600w would cost me more, so why downgrade?
Whats a good gigabyte board w/ z77 and lga1155? TBH I don't know much about mobos - I just browsed my usual online pc supplier (directcanada.com, cheapest I can find) and decided to use that one.
the ram is corsair 2x4gb, as stated in OP.
I personally prefer nvidia over amd... My last build was amd, and i really hated the drivers... I have used a friends laptop with nvidia, the drivers where sooo much nicer :| the nvidia gpu is worth the extra 50 bucks imho I was more so interested in seeing if a 660 would be worth downgrading to for the saved cash
I am not only going to play fc3... I got stuff like chivalry, PS2 and more than currently only run on medium or high w/o AA.
Go with the 650w then, I assumed you were getting it all online.
http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813128543 I guess.
8gb ram is all you need, so go with that.
AMD's drivers have improved a lot and so the 7950 is the ideal, recommended choice. Otherwise if you want Nvidia features or anything like that, go ahead with the 670 if you want.
You should be able to play all of those just fine, I have the exact same build with some changes, like an 7950 and 600w PSU, and I play those games easily.
