Wow, the freedom of speech gone like that. Ironically their games are mostly M-rated videogames with excessive swearing and violence. I wonder if anyone regrets buying the XBone now that swearing can get them banned.

Can you imagine GTA V being released on Xbox One and PS4? How will multiplayer work when the game encourages players to swear. Banning people becuase of swearing is too excessive. People can abuse this system and have an innocence player banned just for a minor swearing incident online.
shit, piss, fuck, cunt, cocksucker, motherfucker, and tits. bring it faggot fucking bring it removing the video is making sense but Jesus Tit's Christ, what the fucking hell, fuck!
the game doesn't encourage you to swear?
lmao yeah right 18 second video and it's only 1% of the game and already, "Shit shit nigga nigga nigger shit fuck shit nigga nigga niggashit" censoring swearing on a game that actively has black people calling eachother nigga and trevor of all people existing it is insane and idiotic, because the ban is meant to be clean, but it's a video game about murdering the shit out of hookers and bikers
ok but you dodged the question nothing in multiplayer encourages you to swear
its an adult game for adult people, of course I'm going to god damn swear as much as I god damn please little kids shouldn't be protected when they shouldn't even be watching gta5 to boot non adult games yeah the swearing is purely the uploaders fault for not knowing how to talk like a person but thats different instead of removing a video, simply put an age mark on it like youtube does.
ok but you dodged the question nothing in multiplayer encourages you to swear
Subconciously .... but anyways Are we going to end up like the "Demolition Man scenario" where a minor cussing will result a one month ban for your PAID Xbox live Gold membership account? Probably not but this rule needs to be reviewed. Most of let's play videos made by players can sometimes contain a profanity or two. If we ban or limited the priviledge of players who has a habit of swearing too much in multiplayer, it would drive a lot of players away from the Xbox One. Sure we may have lesser rude people but it's no fun when our speech is being regulated and we are forced to be polite. We have call of Duty ghost and Battlefield 4 game where you will always hear profanity all the time and those games are coming out on the Xbox One and PS4 as well.
Yeah, RIP our right to tell random people online about how we fucked their mothers, this is so terrible
That's how it starts. First you can't tell someone how you're going to violate their mother. Then you can't even make jokes about their dog and their father having sex. Next thing you know you can't talk about anything.

So in-game chat is fine. Still, them going so far as banning you is pretty ridiculous.
They should of implemented some form of age based system where it checks the age of the player who say received a message, and if the player is <18 (Or another age IDK) it will block it, Otherwise not.
Seems fair enough in this case. I thought it was about using the Kinect to automute 12-year-olds swearing like Tourette's, but this is just about public uploads on a content distribution system without age groups. There's also nothing said about people getting banned (headline's tricky like that), only that privileges are being revoked. Which you just mean if you keep publishing stuff that's against the ToS you're getting an upload timeout. Sounds quite reasonable to me if the filter's well constructed.

Hey atleast MS will have some xbones in stock now from all the people returning them!
I think it's completely understandable but as others have said it would be best to add age filters and then just allow it.
Xbox, fuck yourself
*xbox gets offended*
*xbox bans account*
First they came for the twelve year olds, and I didn't speak out because I wasn't twelve. Then they came for the teenagers, and I didn't speak out because I wasn't a teenager. Then they came for the neckbeards, and I didn't speak out because I wasn't a neckbeard. Then they came for me, and there was no one left to speak for me.
fucking really If they're going to restrict the streaming system like that they may as well categorise them into 18+, 15, 12, etc.
Why not have swear word be recognised by the Kinect and have any video with swearing not show up for users under 18? I mean they can already assign specific words for commands and they already know the age of the account so it should be relatively easy to do.
Talk about a pointless and unnecessary effort. If it's to protect the kiddies, those same kiddies are 90% of the problem, being that they usually have enough swear words memorized to make a sailor blush. They're also typically not shy in terms of using them, while most adults tend to rein it in a bit because they have at least a shred of sense and decency. If it's to protect sensitive people, then it's only exacerbating the problem by keeping their cozy little bubble of ignorance intact. Wrapping the entire goddamn world in bubble wrap for these kinds of people only makes them more sensitive and idiotic. Exposing them would help them understand that some people are dicks, and that said people are not worth dealing with at all, rather than letting them get under your skin. And regardless of who it's protecting, it's fucking over every single person who isn't "in need of protection" by restricting free speech. The very people this could be attempting to protect are the problem, not the victims.
Why not have swear word be recognised by the Kinect
I don't think that would go down very well. Kids are going to learn swear words eventually no matter what, and chances are if they're old enough to use a console, they already know quite a few words. Why is america so uptight about swearwords?

[editline]26th November 2013[/editline] oh yeah, this too
Users of rival console, Sony's PlayStation 4, may also experience a ban if they fail to adhere to the program's terms of service.
so it's not just microsoft being evil because videogames

Kids are going to learn swear words eventually no matter what, and chances are if they're old enough to use a console, they already know quite a few words. Why is america so uptight about swearwords?
Because, in case you haven't noticed, the U.S. is surprisingly ass-backwards about censorship, government and a lot of other things. Mind you, we Americans as people are generally nice and intelligent folk, but our government, censorship systems and a whole bunch of other shit are seriously out of whack. Our censorship in a nutshell: Violence, death and wanton disregard for human life? "Ehh, who cares, it's family fun!" Sex, swear words and anything that might hurt someone's feelings? "BAN THIS EVIL FILTH IMMEDIATELY, BEFORE IT RUINS OUR PRECIOUS BABIES!!!" Needless to say, I don't think very highly of this supposed "Land of the Free".
So, this is actually real? That is just fucking stupid.
How is this new exactly? It was the same thing with xbox 360. I was banned a day for swearing in a halo 3 match back in 08
So $500 +monthly payments +games, and you're basically just being allowed to use it. Microsoft have the ultimate say in how you can use everything and fuck that
