• Help With Building Gaming PC

Hi, I've decided to build a nice gaming computer, one that will be able to run most new games on max settings for the next few years. However, I have pretty much no experience in building a computer. I need a bit of help on choosing components for it. I've made a list of components I'm thinking of using. My budget is about $1,400. EDIT Sorry about the Crysis 2 at max 30fps. I was an idiot, and that is very unrealistic. I just want something that can run new games at resonable settings.
You have got be kidding me. Let us make a build for you. Also what is your resolution?
My resolution is 1920x1080
Get the X4 instead of the X6 almost all of the applications won't take advantage of the 2 extra cores and you are going to need a better videocard. Also FYI if you are going to overclock the system you need to get a better power supply.
You could max Crysis on a $1400 build.
dont get that psu, it sucks ass. Get an i5 750 build for 1400
For $1400? http://secure.newegg.com/WishList/PublicWishDetail.aspx?WishListNumber=20195628

I'm going to build the second one. Does anyone have suggestions on changes to it?
Nothing needs changed, that's a damn fine build. You may want an SSD though.
If you want some fast boot up times get an SSD, nothing over 32gb, you won't need it.

I might SLI eventually.
Well it looks like you want the second build then
I read some of the reviews on the i5's stock cooler, and they said it was crappy. Could anyone recommend a good CPU cooler?
Corsair H70, its a closed system water cooler, very effective.
That seems pretty far out of his budget. And unless he's gonna be the extreme overclocker that's unnecessary.
http://secure.newegg.com/WishList/PublicWishDetail.aspx?WishListNumber=15494226 Get whatever case in that price range or below, Silverstone makes good quality cases though so you should get it if you like the design. You sure you want to OC? The i5 is fast on its own. Otherwise get this: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835106150

One of the main attractions of the i5 is that it overclocks so well
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835242001 Doesn't include fans though.
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835103065&cm_re=Hyper_212%2b-_-35-103-065-_-Product I'm going to get this one, as it seems to be the best one, although I'm probably going to buy it from somewhere other than Newegg because they charge twice as much for it.
Best one in what aspect?
It's price compared to how well it cools the CPU and how quiet it is.
