I have been having this problem where, no matter if a program is running or the system is idle, WIndows 7 64-bit will completely lock up on me randomly. The mouse won't move, the clock in the taskbar stops at the time of the freeze, and I have to do a hard restart to regain functionality. The hard drive activity LED stops blinking also.
The only errors I see in event viewer pertaining to this occurrence is the error 6008, which corresponds to the hard restart I had to do by pressing the reset button on my computer. I ran the Update Advisor for Windows 7 and it says everything is compatible, my drivers are up to date, and so are my Windows Updates.
I have checked everywhere and can't seem to find a solution. I was running Vista 64 bit on the same hardware with the same hardware configurations with no problems. It was 24 hours prime95 tested stable and 24 hours of burn-in with memtest86 with no errors.
Any help would be awesome!
