• Cognitive enhancers for college students.

This poll is anonymous! A lot of students today try to boost their efficiency of their studies to get higher grades. I wonder, how does it look like here on Facepunch? The primary goal of this poll is to get a general picture of the use of cognitive enhancers for people who do not have a diagnose that require them to take these compounds to begin with. For those of you out there that are still in college or have already graduated, I have a follow-up series of questions for you to answer. It is completely free to do so. 1. Are/were you working proactively to boost your performance? 2. What method or compound did you use? 3. Do you notice any effect? 4. What made you begin? 5. Do you know of others that use prescription medicines for studying purposes?
I know people who take nootropics from time to time, from what I have seen they help more used occasionally rather than all the time. Personally I just study like normal. Unless you have an overloaded schedule or a very difficult major there is no need for enhancers. If you are struggling with the course load you may simply not be prepared for college.
I feel nicotine helps as well.
I honestly don't take anything to change my performance at all. I drink a lot of tea, but that's not for performance reasons so much as the fact that I love a good cup of tea, and have drunk 3+ a day for over 12 years. I could claim a healthy diet, exercise and such, but to be honest with myself, I'm not that good. Sure I'm nowhere near terrible (I cook all my meals and balance them appropriately, don't take the bus in favour of walking, try to sleep properly and such) but again it's not to affect performance so much as what I like and such. Honestly, I have never tried any pills for it, and don't ever intend to. I'm fine as is. Not the best, and I can live with that; try as I might to improve it, but I'm nowhere near the worst. Study and effort got me this far, and I hope they keep working.
I feel nicotine helps as well.
I would assume it would if you are already smoke, I doubt it does otherwise. I try to eat healthy and sleep enough but its really hard to do. My sleeping habits are unhealthy at present, I come home from school and nap until dinner, then I do homework and play games until midnight. Then I wake up at 6am. I can't break the cycle, I don't feel "ready" for bed unless its midnight.
I have a bottle of prescription amphetamines that help boost my confidence and suppress my appetite, but I rarely ever use them. I lift weights and exercise roughly 3-4 times a week to keep my health up and I eat/sleep properly.

Certainly the meds work, but I think I would lose confidence in my own abilities if I relied on pills to push me through the day.
I feel a coffee in the morning and my weightlifting helps me stay motivated. Try keeping stuff like browsing for dumb shit on YouTube for hours to a low. Make a schedule (have an hour of study a night) (2 hours maybe 2 weeks leading up to an exam) and you'll fucking score that A.
adderall and lots of it
Isn't there some weird thing you can do where it involves placing little electrodes on your skull in order to direct a current into your brain that is supposed to stimulate learning? It was like TDCP or something. Oh Yeah TDCS: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Transcranial_direct-current_stimulation Y'all could make your own if you're good with electronics and it'll boost your learning a bit (there have been studies and I recommend this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dUMUIXNeBRQ). Perfect for college right?

I wouldn't even trust myself to do it right. To see this out in the public hands is more than unnerving.
I fire all my neurons at once.
I wish there was a wonderdrug for cognition enhancement but the closet to that would be Adderall, and there's no way I am asking for a prescription. I don't do anything to improve my cognition. I dance regularly so that helps me train my mind. I have poor memory, but I think I'm starting to do better.
I mainly drink shitty caffeine drinks to get through the roughest of days. Used to exercise regularly and that helped ALOT. Sadly, this semester is draining some serious shit out of me.
I use a Nootropic stack consisting of Aniracetam i got from Smart Powders and Noopept. Works wonderfully, but it's very subtle. Mental tasks gradually get easier the longer you take them. But man are they expensive. My last restock cost me $85.
Adderal every morning
That's a lot of crackheads lol
That's a lot of crackheads lol
Then you have no idea what crack is :)
Then you have no idea what crack is :)
I meant the second options of-course, ''Methylphenidate/Ritalin/Concerta regularly''. Aren't those drugs?
I meant the second options of-course, ''Methylphenidate/Ritalin/Concerta regularly''. Aren't those drugs?
Yes. So is modafinil and adderal. It's kind of the point of this thread.
I didn't need any drugs. I'm baffled that drugs seems so common these days.
I use lots of drugs for recreational purposes and none for cognitive enhancement V:v:V
