So I've lately been having issues with my PC. It's powering off completely when I'm doing...anything. I could be playing a game, I could be browsing FP, or it could be idle, and suddenly my entire rig just shuts off.
I just got the OK to spend an indefinite amount (under $1200 or so would be nice) of money on replacing my PC, so I need some help. I'm pretty sure my graphics card is fine because it's new, and it's a 660 Ti so I don't need to go replacing it. Otherwise, I need to get a new everything.
I'm going to be shopping at a store called Microcenter, but feel free to post parts from anywhere and I'll see if it's carried at their store. All I need is to put together a list with all the parts, their prices, and the general subtotal to get approved.
So if I get this correctly, I'll need a:
Motherboard
CPU
RAM
Power Supply
HDD (Possibly an SSD for the OS, and a good HDD for everything else)
(optional - recommended) Tower
(very optional) Monitor
(extremely optional) GPU

I'd appreciate any and all help with this project. I've put together computers many times, so I won't need to pay to have someone do it for me. Also I have an OS already.
Thanks for your time!
You might want to wait half a month untill haswell is released and get a 7-15% faster cpu for the same price.

Is this all compatible with each other and an NVidia 660 Ti?

he doesn't need a new GPU, so you might as well take that out and throw in a better heatsink, an SSD, and 16gb of RAM or something.
also waiting for Haswell is a much better idea than doing a full overhaul right now.

oh and get a better power supply

i doubt he needs a better heatsink or 16gb ram unless hes doing hardcore video editing / overclocking he can remove the gpu and put a 128gb samsung pro 840 if he wants

I'm just thinking hopefully now that consoles are going to have more RAM than the average smart phone, maybe we can see some ways to better utilize larger amounts of RAM in games finally.

And while the 212 EVO does the job pretty well for its price, the thing can get loud at times and going to a HAVIK 140 or NH-D14 or something isn't going to absolutely wreck his budget, it's just going to give him quieter and better cooling which in turn means more overclocking headroom in the future.
I know I should be waiting but my computers current condition makes it almost impossible to use. I've tried to type this post multiple times, so much so that I've had to save it to a text file and copy-paste it then continue typing after it shut down :v:
I'm going with a build similar to Flarey's.
I'm a little iffy on the power supply. I've had one blow up inside my case before so I want the best of the best.
you're missing out on a pretty decent performance gain for the same price if you don't just deal with it for a while longer.
http://www.microcenter.com/product/377236/ZT_Series_750_Watt_Modular_ATX_Power_Supply for a good upgrade path, http://www.microcenter.com/product/380192/Silencer_Mk_III_Series_600_Watt_ATX_Modular_Power_Supply if you don't plan on going with multi-GPU
I think this is what I'm going to get. Pretty close to what Flarey suggested.

the HX850 is horridly overpriced and you don't need anywhere near that amount of wattage

500W is more than enough.
Higher wattage does not mean better quality.
