I have around £100 to spend on a SSD. i am looking for decent read & write speeds also reliability.
I am planning to use it for Windows, Battlefield 3 and some other programs.
I have been looking at the Intel 520 but i read some reviews and apparently there are some other faster drives for the same price.
Can anyone point me in the right direction?
Well, the best overall SSD on the market is probably the Samsung 840. The fastest SSD for sale is kind of a toss-up between the OCZ Vertex 3 and the Samsung 840 while the slowest is a toss up between the Intel 320 and anything with first gen Sandforce. However, the most reliable SSD on the market is the Intel 520 while the least reliable are most of the OCZ labels.

However, you really cannot go wrong with an Intel 520 or a Samsung 830 either.

Samsung 830 and 840 are really good and are cheaper than what SSD's used to cost.
Samsung 8XX by far. Very reliable and fast.
Reliability is due to the fact that they use their own in house controller and not some SandForce one.
Either a Samsung 840 or a Corsair Neutron GTX, they're both fast and reliable
I got a 120GB Mushkin Chronos SSD for $90 (£56) about a month ago, which I put in my laptop's secondary drive bay.
I use it as my main drive; windows installed on it, BF3, etc. I'm extremely pleased with its performance.
A bench test I ran tells me I get 547 MB/s read and 519 MB/s write.
Samsung 830 user here. My first SSD and not a single problem with it. I got for about €90 from Amazon UK a couple of months ago. Really good!
3 days late but go for the Samsung 830. Right now I do not recommend the 840 since Samsung introduced new low-endurance TLC NAND memory onto it as well as it having immature firmware. Not only that but the new memory type has a write endurance of only 1000 cycles and could actually wear out the smaller sized versions (<240GB) under normal use. We just don't know the reliability of it so far.
830 Samsung is a good choice, look at reviews on newegg

There's an MLC version for like $15 more.
