I thought this game sucked?
I still think it does.
I thought this game sucked?
Nah its pretty good. It has some issues and it's not as good as Origins but on its own merits it's a very solid game.
I thought this game sucked?
It kinda does. For everything DA:I does right, it does 3 things more wrong. Right off the bat its so fucking ugly looking, just in terms of everything. Animations, textures, models, just really inconsistent across the game. 100% seriousness, I think DA:O on max looks just so much better than DA:I, both graphically and aesthetically. Its also one of the most inconsistent video games in terms of quality I have ever played. One second its fucking great and im loving it and the shit going on is really well made and engaging. Literally 5 minutes later you could be dealing with just absolute shit, looking like absolute shit, and animated like absolute shit on top of playing like absolute shit. These inconsistencies are extremely apparent in questing, most are extremely shit MMO tier(im talking bad mmo tier) while another quest would be fucking great. Its RPG character building is fucking horrendous and non-existent, all stats are auto placed, stats have no numbers, just bars. Extremely limiting amount of skills and very uninteresting skills. Mage is just fucking so boring in DA:I, unlike DA:O where its probably the most fun. I will say the combat is great if you are a rogue/warrior(i played mage so my complaints are biased towards me being a mage) Story is just garbage all around, its uninteresting, cliche, and shit. BUT, a lot of the side stuff and characters are pretty great and I didnt even care for DA:I story so I had a lot of enjoyment from everything else that isnt the main story. The main story is the least interesting thing I found in DA:I, Id much rather just go talk to Varric and hear his shit. War Table is extremely tedious, smart idea, it works well, but having to go through like 4 loading sceens(long loading screens), leave your area, fast travel to your keep, then walk to the war table door, then get another load screen, EVERY FUCKING TIME you want to deal with the war table is just so fucking bad. They should have had war tables at camps in all zones. Crafting is fucking amazing and probably the most enjoyable aspect for me. Party AI is fucking HORRIBLE, its the worst in the series and one of the worst ive seen in a gameplay style like DA. I mean holy fuck its REALLY bad, in 4 hours of playing, Iron Bull never charged a single enemy, and instead charged away from combat to go swing at air. Its not a great game, I wouldnt even call it a good game, but I think if you got it for like $30 you will get a lot out of it. If you love DA and want just more DA you probably cant go wrong, DA:I is long as fuck. Its quality is probably the most offensive thing about DA:I, but as a game it can be very enjoyable. Nowhere near GOTY levels of a game. The best way to describe DA:I easily is that its extremely inconsistent with quality from start to finish. Sometimes being amazing, other times being garbage/awkward/shit.
I'm only 10 hours (and still level 3) into Divinity Original Sin and it's so much better than DA:I. That game deserves more recognition in bullshit GOTY competitions.
Agree with most of the post (especially party AI, nearly unplayably bad at higher difficulties) but I thought DA:I looked goddamn beautiful for the most part. Typical Bioware animations and character design ranges from solid to embarrassing but the landscapes were amazing.
It's not a true Bioware game if the animations aren't shit. It's part of the experience.
It's not a true Bioware game if the animations aren't shit. It's part of the experience.
this, plus awful writing and voice acting is the reason why Bioware has been shit for a LONG time.
What twisted world do we live in where horrible PC ports of tumblr the game get GOTY mentions?
Its alright, not really GOTY material but 2014 was really mediocre overall in the AAA department. Its like 7/10 material if I had to give it a rating. Everything I would have to say has been said. The stats are locked and watered down pretty hard, any part of this game that would normally require brain power has been removed like any advanced combat tatics and placement etc. In short it got consolized pretty hard. I'm just stuck on DA:O still. I miss being able to wreck everyones shit as an arcane super warrior because I took the time to figure out a good build.
epic [editline]1st January 2015[/editline] apparently your game is tumblr bait if it has any lgbtq elements and any notable representation of minorities in western society
Well with DA:I, they advertised the shit out of the romances. I don't even think they advertised romance at all with the first game, they advertised it as a dark, mature game that also had sex because this is a game for adults
epic [editline]1st January 2015[/editline] apparently your game is tumblr bait if it has any lgbtq elements and any notable representation of minorities in western society
There are games with good, well written LGBT characters where their homosexuality isn't their defining trait, their point of existence. Modern BioWare seems to think the opposite, and thus creating Freddy Mercury-like representations for certain characters.
cool, play inquistion and come back and provide your opinion so far 10 hours in i've yet to encounter anyones sexuality being mentioned or revealed, whereas in da2 you could actually accidentally fuck the gay party member
pretty much mass effect 3 was pretty bad too about that This, not so much, they've learned.
cool, play inquistion and come back and provide your opinion so far 10 hours in i've yet to encounter anyones sexuality being mentioned or revealed, whereas in da2 you could actually accidentally fuck the gay party member
The only times sexuality is really brought up a bunch, and if you wanna call it "tumblr" like then it would be ironbull. Talking to him at your keep usually ends up leading into sexuality. Thing is, its never in your face. Still, some of iron bulls writing can be pretty lazy at points but not really bad. I mean hes the one who talks a lot on how being "trans"(its not trans in our sense) and all over the place sexuality preference is completely normal with iron bull peeps. Thats it, and you have to go purposely talk to him about that shit. Other than that the only time sexuality was brought up was that gay mage with the mustache in your party, except hes extremely well done, was gonna fuck his ass if I bothered playing more. Its not like boarderlands, or even worse the pre-sequel, where every single fucking person I come across just has to let me know how gay or bi or trans they are, for no fucking reason at all except for the sake of it. Well their was a lesbian couple sidequest in the hinterlands at the start, but once again, not written badly or in your face. Its actually pretty subtle and well done imo.
I have no interest in playing this game but the amount of people who get mad at it because "SJW pandering!!!" makes me laugh.
"Best games" AKA games that didnt fuck you in the ass too hard
