It feels like the only innovation out of Nintendo recently has been gimmick controls. Their games are mostly shovelware or soulless rehashes, and I really would like to see some new stuff come out again.
Super Mario Sunshine was a fun jump from normal, but it came out some time ago. I'm sure they've made a few others, but overall I'm seeing stagnation where there could be progress.
Good for them.
At first I thought this wii u is pointless but then I played it at a party and damn it's the console made for group entertainment, put alcohol and an wii u with 5 controllers in a room and you get an hilarious night all the time.
no regrets.got it for zelda and mario, I am having no regrets. [sub][sup]so far[/sup][/sub]

You mean you're waiting for the Zelda U? Neat; I'll probably grab it and the console myself (after looking at reliable reviews that aren't "bought" or use some kind of actual scoring system, that is), perhaps as a sort of "family present". I've officially become kind of a Zelda fan thanks to Twilight Princess (some might say it's a "scrubby" way to introduce oneself to the franchise, but I DID play the original on emulator), and I'll probably buy Skyward Sword after I finish TP, so once I check out how Zelda U has turned out I'll think about picking it up and get that hands-on feel.

A game about a squirt gun was wholly original, but the one where you platform in an abnormal gravity environment wasn't?
I'll buy it if they make a good metroid and if the upcoming zelda is a lot better than SS

Did you ignore the Wii's games? There were tons of great ones that weren't "shovelware or soulless rehashes." For first party, try Mario Galaxy 1/2, Zelda: Skyward Sword, Metroid Prime 3 (avoid Other M), DKC Returns, Smash Bros. Brawl, Xenoblade Chronicles, Super Paper Mario, Rhythm Heaven Fever, and others. Third party titles were also present like Little King's Story and Sin and Punishment: Star Successor. Kid Icarus: Uprising came out earlier this year for 3DS and is excellent and completely unlike the original two games. Stop with the mindless Nintendo-hating when this gen had plenty of great games. Skyward Sword really showed that motion controls can be something else than just a gimmicky replacement for a button. People said the same about the DS's touch screen, but now we know that it opened up many venues for games that wouldn't work otherwise, like Elite Beat Agents/Ouendan.
Edit: Fixed inaccuracies
Im a big Nintendo fan and supporter (I have a WiiU) but i have a feeling this is Nintendo last home console.
What makes you think that?
Well just the market is so Xbox and PS3 nowadays and everybody still thinks the WiiU is a kids toy. And with Sony and Microsoft announcing there new more powerful consoles obviously people are going to go towards them. That being said, if the next Xbox and PS4 block used games, Nintendo should be on top again.
Not everyone cares about fancy hardware though, just look at the Wii, it has sold more than the 360 and PS3. I think the Wii U will get more famous once it gets some AAA games (Zelda, Mario, Metroid, etc).
Little Cod kids do. Wii sold more because it was the cheapest and the motion control boom. I have no doubt that it will sell more once big titles come out but will it be enough?
Little cod kids just care for things that are glorified and massively advertised, not for the best looking games. The irony is that Call of Duty has pretty stagnant graphical improvement over the years.
Anyway, the WiiU seems like a great console when played with a couple of guys, the wii was fun at times but I always thought that the controls and motion was pretty wonky and rather unpleasant. Anyway I am a guy who prefers precise controls.
I love my Wii U, mostly for Nintendo Land and the backlog of Wii games I missed out on after getting pissy after DKCR released(DK Country Returns was the last wii game I played, everything afterwards back then didn't appeal to me).
So far I got;
Nintendo Land(Loads of fun for my family and I)
New Super Mario Wii U(Got to World 8 in less than a day, the hilarious multiplayer moments makes it worthwhile)
-and for Wii-
Spectrobes Origins(Fun as hell, no idea why, also Jeena is hot)
Brawl(I enjoy it, usually pop it in after I play Playstation All-Stars so I can badmouth the latter)
Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: The Crystal bearers(Highly underrated, it's loads of fun, tons of random actiony type things, like stearing a ship, butt bouncing minigame, ect)
Donkey Kong Country Returns(Never beat it, so I got it again)
Sonic Colors(Favorite next to generations)
Awesome, I am enjoying the Wii-U alot.
I own Nintendo-Land (Most played due to Zelda, Octopus dance and Donkey Kong Crash Course), got ZombiU, love it. I have AC3, which I yet to play. And just Dance, which I hardly play.
Not such an explosion like the original Wii...

Of course not, Nintendo knows they've lost most of the casual audience so they're going and targeting towards "hardcore" gamers. The Wii was a smash hit with casual gamers.
Nintendo will always do well honestly.
Even though they milk Mario to death with shitty rehashes, they always come out with a fucking amazing Mario game(64/sunshine/galaxy/rpg/paper)
They also release those rare amazing games that sort of come out of nowhere and sound retarded but end up being amazing, like Luigis mansion and Pikmin.
Plus there games are usually always fun and straight up fun, cant think of another company that does fun so well and all the time.
Even those milked dry super mario worlds are still fun.
Make it $50 and I'd buy it :P

The hyped, gimmicky hardware was the only reason the Wii outsold them so hotly though. It has some good games now but it took years to get them.
The Wii U looks a lot more promising though. If it keeps the promises, I might get one eventually.
I'll wait for the new Zelda first.
Honestly the WiiU looks great but in the way that it is everything the Wii should have been.
Plus, it's backward compatibility with all Wii Games makes it a plus if you haven't own a Wii yet.

Get Skyward Sword, you won't regret it, best zelda game, ex aequo with WW and Majora's Mask

You're kidding? It's the worst 3D Zelda so far easily.

Skyward Sword is so fucking bad...

Pretty much all of them own except for SS. Twilight Princess (on GC) was my favourite.

On the topic of Wii U's, I love mine to pieces. Provides the most fun I think I've had on a console, and it's flagship titles like a 3D Mario and Zelda aren't even out yet.
