THERE ARE NO PROGRAMS ON MY PC AT FAULT. NOT FIRE FOX, NOT WINDOWS VISTA
I'm wondering if port forwarding my home could boost the speed of my internet connection. I'm using it for my dad's PC and mine, and since we're paying for up to 16 Mb/s, I want to know why I am getting around 12.
Latest speed test

Any help?
Port forwarding will not help your speed.
Also, just because you are paying for 16mb it doesn't mean you will get it.
Speed decreases with distance to your nearest telephone exchange (if using ADSL)
Fibre is also somewhat affected, but not as much.

Distance <:50km, so I doubt it.
You could try connecting to the internet directly with a cable modem instead of a router to see if speed increases. But you hardly get the most of what your connection theoretically could offer with private connections, a small speed decrease is common.

even 10km can significantly knock your speed down.
there is a formula somewhere for calculating your theoretical maximum line speed based on your distance from the exchange, Don't know it by heart though so you will probably have to google for it.
That is still pretty good. Don't worry about it, you will almost never get the exact speed you pay for.
It's cable, you're bound to lose a significant amount of your connection speed based on things such as the usage rate of other customers, distance, and a wholelotta other shit.

I.E. the speed that you are getting is what you are paying for, be it a bit lower, or higher than expected. Your conection speed will likely jump up and down. Mine changed 10 mb/s in 1 minute.
