Never understood this kind of argument. One of my friends also likes to do it, whenever he sees sequels. He says that games like Dishonored 2 look too similiar to the previous one, in style and gameplay, yet he has no problem with it in games like Fallout 4 and XCOM 2.

You take what's worked in the first game, expand on it and minimize the mistakes it did. This is what sequels are supposed to do.

Each of the few guns in Titanfall filled a specific role and you can modify to make them function differently. I'd be fine if they inflated the weapon count with weapons that are functionally the same but maybe a little different just to make it feel like you're progressing each time you rank up, or at least make them skins and be allowed to modify them. Such as taking points out of ROF to put them into damage and accuracy

And this is why bf1 is the only fps I'm getting this fall. I'd like the mw remaster but i won't buy inf warfare since i have no plans on playing it, and this will probably die early on, even with free updates and dlc.
