Sup FP, I was having a great time a few days ago, I turned the PC off and went to bed.
The next day, I turned my PC on and the hard drive didn't start.
The drive isn't recognized by Ubuntu, Windows nor the BIOS, internally nor externally.
The drive doesn't even spin the disks anymore.
Any idea what happened?
I can't get it to do anything.
It's a Western Digital Caviar Blue 640GB.
Any ideas how to fix it?
did you check that none of the cables got unplugged?
Please re-read my whole post, I've tested it internally and externally.
You didn't say you tested it, you just said it was not recognized.
Kind of an obvious question but, did you try degaussing it for any reason? Or maybe a magnet was in close vicinity?
Nope, I haven't done anything odd to it, I just turned off my PC, and turned it on in the morning and it broke.
If it's not spinning up, it sounds like it's not getting power. I doubt a magnet could cause it to not spin up.
