I quite liked it. Being that I have a weird soft spot for idle games (I can play them while I'm listening to podcasts and music and the like), one aspect in particular stood out for me in SpacePlan: it has an ending. You don't prestige for holy potatoes when you reach the end, you don't go back and do it all again with extra special features, you actually get an ending.
And what's more, in the second half of the game, it introduces a skill element in the form of orbital artillery strikes. Specifically, [sp]firing Potato Wedges at rotating targets and having to take into account both the targets' movement and the orbit of your spaceship.[/sp] Which certainly shakes things up when it comes to clickers and idle games.
Though it's probably still a hard sell, since there are a big bunch of clickers out there that you can play for free. You've got Cookie Clicker, Egg Inc, AdVenture Capitalist, Clicker Heroes, and so on. Though at the end of the day, three dollars is still a small price to pay for a charming little adventure like this. And it won't try to entice you to speed things up with microtransactions, either, which is something that strangely eludes certain triple-A "full price" games.
