Note: Please use layman's terms, I'm a complete illiterate.
So the hunk of junk that is my gaming computer has had a varied pattern lately, a while back it started working again out of the blue after a period where it refused to boot, and then one day an old issue where games would cause automatic BSOD's on start up came back.
I got pretty pissed and went through various attempted fixes, until I tried re-installing a new Graphics Card driver (as far as I could see my card is so old now they don't even have it on the AMD site, so I had to download it from another site) I downloaded a few days ago.
I played a game, it booted and worked fine. I half-figured that I probably should have un-installed the non-functional AMD drivers I had before installing new ones, and I reckon this might have been the cause of this problem in hindsight.
I left my computer for a while and it apparently went into automatic sleep mode (I presume that's what it is anyway, the screen was black when I came back) and the monitor didn't turn back on until I restarted the computer.
It then went through a start up repair, and restarted. I went through this about 2-3 times to no effect, so I tried reading the text a bit more in detail.
Start up repair actually says it can't fix the problem, and in a drop down text thing the error says "07: Bad Driver" or something to that effect.
I figure that the driver and my wonky handling of it may be the problem, what I'd like to know is how to work around this error and fix it with the least hassle possible.
Try starting Windows in fail-safe mode.
Start the machine, and then spam "F8" .
After a while, a menu like this will appear:

Choose "Safe Mode with Networking".
Now download Driver Sweeper, and choose to clean anything AMD graphics related.
Restart, and if the problem was caused due to the graphics drivers being broken, it should now start normally, and you can reinstall the proper drivers.
I tried to turn on the comp, but the monitor refuses to show anything other than the flash screen with the motherboard brand on seconds after the machine starts up.
The monitor light alternates between green and amber but shows nothing, even as I'm pressing F8. The whirring of the fan may or may not be indicating to me that it restarted once or twice as well too.
Download Ubuntu

Put it on a USB storage, and see if you can boot to that.
I tried turning it on after I'd put the Ubuntu install fire on a USB stick and plugged it in, but after I missed the flash screen with the motherboard brand and all shit once I restarted it and now all it shows is a completely black screen and a small flashing underscore in the top left that makes it resemble what I can only describe as Command Prompt.
It does nothing past that point, there's nothing I can press that will make it do anything.
Did you follow the guide for putting it on the USB? Unfortunately you can't just drag the file onto the USB stick. The computer also needs to be set up to boot from USB, when you computer starts up it may say at the bottom "Press F2 to enter setup, F12 to enter boot menu", if it says the boot menu thing, press the key for that. You will want to boot from USB-HDD. Otherwise, press the key to enter the setup. If it says nothing at the bottom, then you will have to try a mix of pressing F1, F2, and Delete to try getting into the setup.
This will lead you to the BIOS screen which is usually blue background with white text, from here you're looking for boot order or boot setup, and you want to put USB-HDD first, then save and exit
