• So I was looking through my routers logs and I keep seeing these "attacks"

Jan 5 08:47:29 SYN-ACK port scan attack from WAN (ip:218.93.205.174) detected. Jan 5 08:43:20 Xmas port scan attack from WAN (ip:69.16.245.11) detected. Jan 5 08:36:06 SYN-ACK port scan attack from WAN (ip:218.93.205.174) detected. Jan 5 08:30:08 SYN-ACK port scan attack from WAN (ip:218.93.205.174) detected. Jan 5 08:26:35 SYN-ACK port scan attack from WAN (ip:218.93.205.174) detected. Jan 5 08:16:46 SYN-ACK port scan attack from WAN (ip:218.93.205.174) detected.[/code] Could somebody please tell me what these are? I've never really cared before but Ive been seeing them constantly now. I'm okay with networking but I'm not quite sure what these are. One IP is from China and the other United States. Some various other IP's which I havent checked the nationality of.

It means someone is scanning you for open ports, if you dont have anything weird open, just ignore it

Probably just some virus searching for vulnarable computers
Million different reasons why those would show up. Researches scanning networks, people trying to make statistics, someone bored that has nmap installed, any of the kazillions of viruses out there..
