Hello, fellow Facepunchers I'm looking to upgrade from an old Dell XPS 400, or to at least upgrade it so it runs smoother and faster. Here's a summary of what I have currently. Operating System MS Windows 7 Ultimate 32-bit SP1 CPU Intel Pentium D 840 SmithField 90nm Technology RAM 4.0GB Dual-Channel DDR2 @ 332MHz (5-5-5-15) Motherboard Dell Inc. 0YC523 (Microprocessor) Graphics VX2235wm (1024x768@75Hz) DELL 2005FPW (1680x1050@59Hz) NVIDIA GeForce 210 Hard Drives 313GB Western Digital WDC WD3200AAKS-75VYA0 ATA Device (SATA) 313GB Western Digital WDC WD3200AAKS-75VYA0 ATA Device (SATA) Monitor resolution is 1600x1200 but I can turn that down. This is mainly going to be used for gaming and photo editing. The games that I would mainly like to play are: Homefront Bulletstorm Dragon Age 2 And other recent games These don't have to be maxed out but I'd like to play on a different setting than low. Oh, and I'd like this to cost me around $300 max $400. Any help is appreciated.
Oi, that is going to be a new build, the GPU is horrible, the CPU sucks and the motherboard is probably not upgradeable, the only things you'd be able to keep are the HDD's and the CD/DVD drive.
Well I know that, but this is going to be a project that gets done over time. So is there anything I can do for my price range? Or is this entire idea just shot to hell?
If you already have a max budget of $400, then you're not far off - I'd say save up $500 and buy a completely new build without a HDD or DVD Drive you should be able to get a GTX 460 / x4 640 build for just under $500
If thats the case, then I'll just do that. Can you give me the links to some parts you would recommend? Newegg is fine. I don't need an OS, monitor, keyboard/mouse, HDD, or dvd drive.
