I know people through around the word "gimmick" a lot, but "expensive gimmick" is a great description of everything by Dyson.
of all the air-blowing things though, I'd say dyson is most welcome here so far. I've always felt hair dryers as a whole could use a volume setting below "small airliner preparing for takeoff"
I'd rather use the airliner if it's <$100. I don't care what it sounds like.
One major advantage Dyson fans have:
Dyson Airblades are legit
I honestly think the desk fans are silly. We have a few of them on display and they're just as loud as most other fans, they just make a different kind of noise. You can hear them clear as anything else from about ten-fifteen feet away in a busy store, why would it be any better in your home?
I have a dyson ball vacuum and it owns

dyson gimmicks are amazing imo truly the masters of air and wind
What the fuck is that?
Dyson Air Multiplier, a bladeless fan
The thing I hate more than the noise with hairdryers is how often they do something terrifying when they shit out. The last one I had died by shocking me and singing my hair.
Dyson Air Multiplier, a bladeless fan
"bladeless*" *actually contains a tiny bladed impeller in the base that makes a shitload of noise to move far less air than a traditional fan

People like you put them on their absolute maximum setting, which is around double the airflow of a blade fan, and complain about the noise. The bladeless fans on their maximum few settings are pretty loud, yes, but still quieter than ones with a blade because they can't even get to that kind of speed. I have the first edition of the blade-less hot and cool and it's VERY loud but I've seen an incredible improvement over time. I still don't think the price is worth the bang though.
I want this to be powerful enough to put on a RC plane or quadcopter.
I know people through around the word "gimmick" a lot, but "expensive gimmick" is a great description of everything by Dyson.
I clicked the thread to say this. We have that vacuum that hangs on the wall and while it's useful only because it's wireless, the "quiet" thing they try to push so hard is a straight-up lie. It's got literally no power (I have to touch the thing to the hardwood floor for it to even start sucking up the empty shells of birdseed my parakeet gets all over), it dies in less than 5 minutes on a full charge, it takes hours to reach a full charge. Definitely not worth half of what was paid for it. We bought a $60 vacuum from Wal-Mart and it's only slightly louder than the Dyson and actually has a shit ton of power. The Dyson never gets touched anymore. The $60 vacuum, on the first use, picked up all the cat hair and baking soda that was in the carpet that the dyson ball failed to pick up for the 3 years we owned it.. Embarassing on Dyson's part. Never again
Dyson seems to be getting better and better at cramming louder motors into smaller spaces Our handheld one sounds like a fucking dentist drill
