Name of the PSU? If not described or from an unknown brand, don't buy it. General advice here would be to build yourself your own rig.
Name of the PSU? If not described or from an unknown brand, don't buy it. General advice here would be to build yourself your own rig.
Its not for me its for a guy who would like me to see if i can better the deal through building it myself and selling it to him. Ive done it a few times for people, but this deal seems quite good: The tech specs are useless from the site too: Gigabyte H61M Motherboard Technology Intel Quad Core I5 2380P 3.1Ghz CPU 1tb Sata Hard Drive 8gb DDR3 1333 Memory Nvidia Geforce GTX550 TI 1gb GDDR5 with HDMI Galaxy 3 Gamers Style Case 24x Dual Layer Sata DVD Writer [editline]10th September 2012[/editline] done some research: ATX 12V 450 watts power supply included (with SATA PIN). is whats included with the case
That's a pretty good deal cant imagine they're making much off it.
PSU is untrustworthy then. There is no information about the speed of the HDD (it could be a slow 5400rpm one), and the case looks poor. Without mentioning the GTX 550Ti, which isn't a good card in terms of price/performance ratio.
PSU is untrustworthy then. Also processor is a low-efficiency one that should only be present for SFF/HTPC cases (because of the low TDP useful for them). There is no information about the speed of the HDD (it could be a slow 5400rpm one), and the case looks poor.
I guess my question would be what could be better with a budget of £450? ( OS not needed ) ''or monitor/keyboard/mouse''
-CPU is slower than a i5-2500 and doesnt have an unlocked multiplier (harder to overclock) -The Mobo is cheap. No SATA3, does have USB 3.0 but only 2 and the soundcard is cheap. -I dont know that case brand but i doubt its good. -No PSU named 100% sure its crap -That GPU isnt going to run any high end games.
and doesnt have an unlocked multiplier (harder to overclock)
Overclock should be an option (especially if OP or his friend doesn't plan to), not an requirement for any build.
Overclock should be an option (especially if OP or his friend doesn't plan to), not an requirement for any build.
Thanks I didnt know that.
Give us a budget OP.
Give us a budget OP.
''I guess my question would be what could be better with a budget of £450? ( OS not needed ) ''or monitor/keyboard/mouse'' Thanks :) Oh and also the customer would like something that can run BF3 reasonably well
Alright, Since I know nothing of whats a good price in other countries, I'll let Quikkill or someone with more knowledge help you out.

( when it comes to gpus i have no clue )
Where's the listing of manufacturers on that EBAY build. Seems really sketchy.
is the i3 better than the more recent link to the ebay amd chip?
Yes, the i3 Sandy Bridge is way much better than any Bulldozer chip (in terms of performance, power consumption, etc...)
is the i3 better than the more recent link to the ebay amd chip?
Yes, the Ivy and Sandy Bridge i3's beat the new bulldozer chips in every category besides programs that do better with hyper threading.
basic ivy i3. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819116775
Ok thanks again guys, im going to assume at this point the customer will enjoy what you have brought too the plate. he is currently setting up paypal, so i can send his mum the invoice, LOL! hes not trusted with funds! bless he is only 15 after all. no offence to any one who is, ''just sayin'' edit : ALSO IS IT WORTH ADDING A heat sync? or just keep the stock?
Get the ivy i3 now instead. Like 5 more. http://www.scan.co.uk/products/intel-core-i3-3220-s-1155-ivy-bridge-dual-core-33ghz-3mb-smart-cache-retail
basic ivy i3. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819116775
Whoops, I forgot you aren't American.
ALSO IS IT WORTH ADDING A heat sync? or just keep the stock?
Stock is fine on the i3s. They are locked chips, and I've never heard of anyone having problems with the stock cooler overheating.
