Finally, I've been waiting for an upgrade.
Maxwell?
This all sounds like it's gone full circle, almost 10 years ago now I was slotting an Geforce 8800 GTX into my gaming rig. There needs to be a better naming convention with these things.
I bet there will be at least a few very expensive 8800 GTXs appearing on eBay to trick a few dimwits.
Funny thing is they switched to it being GTX xxx versus xxx GTX. But people just call it the old way. Just like in this article. it's a GTX 880 not an 880 GTX.
I would love a decent upgrade for my 670, but i'm probably gonna blow my cash on a sweet G-sync monitor first.
I think i'll keep my 780 TI GHZ Edition.
780 represent, 100% satisfied still.
460 master race
I bet VR gaming will be a massive boon for AMD and Nvidia's business. A new console generation started, but they've been outpacing the Xbone and PS4 since day one, so there's barely a challenge trying to run PC ports. However when the Oculus Rift consumer version comes around with its rumoured 1440p screen running at 90hz, you're going to need some serious power to run games with modern graphics in stereo mode.
460 master race
Cant complain, the 1gb 460 SE is seriously great, you get a lot out of a cheap card. 5 years and now I finally have to upgrade, probably would have been longer if the next gen wasnt already happening.

Hope they announce a GTX 890 down the line instead of some dual GPU Titan.
Still running hard on a 560 Ti. Should probably upgrade within a year but the most demanding thing I've played recently was Arma 3 and it ran fine on max settings.
I've been meaning to replace my 7970. It's a good card but AMD's drivers just annoy the hell out of me recently. I was considering getting a 780ti but if 880 is at a good price I'll probably pick that up.
I wonder when the jump will be worth it for me. I came from an ATI HD 3870 to a GTX 460, but I've had no good opportunity to upgrade. The prices all stay high, and the performance I've seen represented via benchmarks etc is either not worth it, or doesn't make sense (such as results showing poorer FPS than what I'm getting now on the latest cards). I wish Tom's Hardware updated their GPU charts again, those were amazing.

Looks like I bought my 770 in just the right time really. Bought it a few months back, the 870 is hardly going to be the same price that the 770 is now so I'm happy to say the least. The real big change in nvidia cards is coming with the Pascal cards or whatever they changed the name to now. The ones that have like 12gb of vram or something crazy like that.
Still rattling on with my hot, fucked, buggy 2x560Ti's. When they work its nice but they very rarely do. Just started a new job so may be in the market for such a device soon...
I'm stuck on 2 gtx 285s :v: I'll probably upgrade to a 750 or 760 ti soon, but my cards run gmod and dark souls 2 fine so I'm in no rush
760 swag
So, how much d'you think it'll be on launch? Should I wait for it rather than shell out for my GTX 780 Ti?
Oh man. My first mid range card was a 8600GT I remember getting it to play HL2:EP2
Should I wait for it rather than shell out for my GTX 780 Ti?
only you can answer this there aren't any games nowadays that really push the limits of PC hardware, so I think you're good unless you're into 4K gaming or something (in which case you should probably get a titan z instead)
So, how much d'you think it'll be on launch? Should I wait for it rather than shell out for my GTX 780 Ti?
Atleast $600USD, probably 700 given Nvidia's trend. [editline]4th August 2014[/editline]
Nvidia drivers aren't better than amd anymore. It's so bad I had to stop updating drivers to avoid bluescreens.
nvidia's recent drivers have been very buggy for me. But otherwise I still prefer them over AMD's
shit, and i thought my 580 was modern
aint got shit on my integrated graphics
I bet there will be at least a few very expensive 8800 GTXs appearing on eBay to trick a few dimwits.
I still have my fried 8800 ultra. Fucking shit that thing ran hot.
aint got shit on my integrated graphics
gma 950 for life
