• Unable to Delete a Music File

I tried troubleshooting this with Google and all that. Even asked some friends. They all lead me to a solution but it fails to work. I use Facepunch as my last resort. If no one here finds me an answer I just say "FUCK IT" and let it be. Anyways, here goes. I have this music file I downloaded onto my desktop. Every time I try to delete this fucking thing, this happens. It stays like that forever. It won't let me cancel or do shit all to it. Seems like the only thing that'll take it away is ending the "Windows Explorer" process, but we don't want to do that. When I go to rename the file, for example Fuck You Cunt.wav, it makes my entire desktop unusable. It's happening right now as I type this. It won't even let me switch to my desktop now. When all this shit hits the fan, I'm forced to restart and come back to my desktop with that damn file staring into my soul. Something I'll be doing after I post this thread. Can anyone help me out here!? [editline]16th December 2011[/editline] May I add, same shit happens in Safe Mode.
I'm going to try shooting in the dark. Temporarily disable your anti-virus.
I'm going to try shooting in the dark. Temporarily disable your anti-virus.
I never had one before this happened. I have installed one after this as well. Still no difference.
Run a chkdsk /r /f
Run a chkdsk /r /f
That doesn't seem to work either.
That doesn't seem to work either.
Doesn't the command itself work, or can't you delete the file after you've run it?
Doesn't the command itself work, or can't you delete the file after you've run it?
Command works. Have to restart PC for it to run. Music file still unable to be deleted.
What happens when you shift-delete it? Same thing?
What happens when you try to delete it from the command prompt?
I'm no computer expert, but I seem to recall solving file deletion issues by using a Linux LiveCD. It's been a few years though, so I'm kinda fuzzy on the details.
Try MoveOnBoot?
Got the same problem here. Windows explorer just stops responding after any interaction with this shitty GC installer.
Put a linux distro on a usb stick, and boot from that. Then try to delete it. Some commands if you don't know linux: ls - shows current directory cd foldername - goes to foldername rm filename - deletes filename If rm doesn't work, try rm -rf filename
What about the Command Prompt? CD <foldername> - Goes to <foldername> DIR - Lists files in the current directory DEL <filename> - Delete file
What about the Command Prompt? CD <foldername> - Goes to <foldername> DIR - Lists files in the current directory DEL <filename> - Delete file
Won't work
Boot into a live linux disk and delete it from there, it worked for my broken ntfs filesystem.
Boot into a live linux disk and delete it from there, it worked for my broken ntfs filesystem.
Look a few posts up
Won't work
OP never said this didn't/won't work
OP never said this didn't/won't work
Right click -> delete does the same as DEL in cmd.exe
Creative Element Power Tools.
Right click -> delete does the same as DEL in cmd.exe
No it doesn't, windows explorer has to process the request first.
Use powershell to delete it if that fails you have to use another operating system.
