• I want to prove to my mother that Firefox is better than IE7

My mother uses Internet Explorer, as I could see as I'm on her laptop right now, is there any really simple proof like some kind of official testing graph to show that IE7 has more exploits and less customizability against Firefox? If you can't be bothered to read it, here is a small TL;DR: My mother uses IE7, I want her to use Firefox, any proof that is solid and is simple to understand?
If she doesn't believe you, maybe she'll believe the German government? :buddy: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/technology/8463516.stm
Thanks, I'l show her that when she comes home. :buddy:
May not prove much to her, but http://acid3.acidtests.org/ Firefox almost passes it, while IE fails completely
The trouble of your (Inacio's) suggestion is that she's not all that illiterate, and would notice that it is Firefox in at least a day. (She's a journalist and she's somewhat moderately literate with computers, due to my teaching. :eng101:
It would still say "*Site title* - Mozilla Firefox" in the title.
It would still say "*Site title* - Mozilla Firefox" in the title.
Exactly! :science: [editline]03:09PM[/editline] And I can't use transparent icons because of her computer being so damned retarded, The only image editor it has is paint, and she won't let me download anything onto it. :saddowns:
Firefox still has a lot of exploits...
Firefox still has a lot of exploits...
Still more secure than IE7 in everyway. IE7 is outdated by 2 versions of Internet Explorer. (I think.)
And by 2 versions of Firefox.
It's outdated by at least 20 actually, 2.0.0 of firefox would be somewhat equal to IE7. :eng101: Mozilla is really keen to keep it bugfree.

Show your mom all of the cool addons you can download and install =]

She probably would like the themes and the personas.
If she doesn't understand the problem with IE7 why not just let her use it? It's hardly torture having to use it sometimes. It's not as bad as people make it out to be. It goes on the internet, and if you're seriously going to be that bothered, use your own PC?
Nazi reference. :golfclap:

In turn I have to use this POS.
Just get her to upgrade to IE8 at least, don't force your preference on people.
It would still say "*Site title* - Mozilla Firefox" in the title.
recompile it with different icon and title, it's not that hard.
Let her use Chrome. That'll fix her up.
as BmB mentioned at least tell her to upgrade, or suggest different browsers.
I think the bigger issue is that she is still using IE7. IE8 is leagues ahead of it. At least its usable.
I agree with JackHowers, Chrome is a much better browser. It actually concentrates on using the internet more than some silly addons you don't need.
Rename FF's shortcut to IE, change icon, get shitty IE theme. Done.
I actually did that, minus the ie theme and my parents didn't even notice :v:
Install Firefox. Install AdBlock. Remove obnoxious ads from websites. If she's not sold by then, then she deserves IE7.
Guys, thanks for helping me, she's gonna let me.
If she wants simple and quick, Chrome is for you! I mean real simple. You can even get an ad-blocker extension. (Chrome's way to say add-on)
Should have gone with opera.
Why don't you use a browser that actually passes the acid3 test?
